Still no email. Is anybody else missing theirs? I've heard a few people mention getting it late, but so far I'm the only one that doesn't seem to have gotten it.

Well its been 12 1/2 hours since update #2 , we are well into late night , got any news for us or updated security cert ?
ShowbizDonkey said:Update #2:
Hey everyone - We're still working hard to resolve the cert issue. We're in the process of integrating an updated cert. Unfortunately, pushing the update out to affected users has some added complexity, as the expired cert blocks our standard software update path. We're working through the options now, and we expect to have more details to share later this evening.

And no offline installer yet, still, after 2 years? Common.
This is the most absurd part. I don't get why it can't work like drivers for any other device ever made. Not even printer drivers require internet access just to work.
And when you get unfavorably compared to printer drivers, you know you're in deep ****

Unfortunately, we don't live in a world where any of what your suggesting is financially viable, the way things have been implemented in software are for a reason. The reason the certification process exists is to stop you from unknowingly installing an update that has been compromised. It is not like a monitor and not a typical peripheral, we are not yet at a point of VR development where we can afford to have it as a standalone product that works with any software you like.all of what you just said has just reinforced my decision to go elsewhere
works fine with the ONLY software i use rift for (DCS World)
if the hardware worked offline without the cert, i wouldnt be here
thank you

Wow, I take a short nap and you all grab the pitchforks and start beating each other to death. Let me tell you a little tale about one of the most successful pioneering games in MMO history called Ultima Online.
Ultima Online was one of the first massive online games, it was remarkable in its scope and a lot of fun. It was also remarkable for epic customer service failures. This was a game where you would put in 8+ hours per day (if you were a lightweight, 12+ if you were s REAL gamer) building something... your character, a home, etc. Your time put in mattered as it was a persistent world.
Patch day would come every few days or maybe a week and something was always ALWAYS wrong. People couldn't log in for hours or days. One time when we finally did log in, the error had been so bad that they had to roll the game back 2 WEEKS. Imagine 100+ hours of your life just vanished. Guess what we got.
Sorry folks.
That was it.
People quit... for a day or 2... stomped their feet, yelled and screamed. In the end it was a game and it was fun and in tech, sh*t happens. It doesn't mean everyone is incompetent or needs to be shot.
Take a breath. Allow people to be human, especially when the error didn't kill you or those you love.
Does it suck? Yeah, kinda. But how are you harmed?
Breathe, it will work out and be fine.
omg, I remember ultima online......i cannot tell you how many times i got killed when my dialup quit and left me standing in the middle of nowhere while i had to dial back in....that really sucked.
Lol yup. As far as the companies go I find Oculus to have been very reliable so far. I have seen so much worse. When I was playing Ultima (8 years old) unexpected downtime was pretty distressing... I'm 21 now, I take stuff like that with a grain of salt and realize in the grand scheme of things how unimportant a day of downtime is. I actually got a lot accomplished today and made quite a few friends on here 🙂

Messages might be out of sync as I'm unclogging the proverbial Spam Queue. It had a minor mental breakdown with the influx of messages last night lol.

I don’t want to hear relax..take a shower etc..those of u who r telling us to calm down please stfu. I just paid $450 for a unit that literally does not even turn on. U SERIOUS?!!! And I hate to admit it but I do feel better that I am not the only idiot looking at their monitor with intense agony. Saying “but it’s hardware? How could software prevent me from using it”. Well within my 14 day return date and looking at the box it came in with the receipt taped on, because I was warned. Tic toc tic toc. Wow what a screw up.
Oh man, my whole computer is tied to software... What happens if the OS craps out?
It's just hardware, right? I shouldn't have to have software to make it work.
Right. Last time my computer didn’t work because of software it was my fault for watching your moms porn channel. Thanks for playing.
That is taking it a bit too far don't you think?
I mean unlike the Rift his moms porn channel is still working
🙂
LMFAO

Ok don't relax or shower but it will be fine you just had really bad luck that today was what it was. I can assure you this is not normal and I have enjoyed many many moths of uninterrupted fun. Just don't get too upset blowing this our of proportion. It will get fixed and you will love your Oculus.
Out of “proportion”? Now I know u work for oculus. Not sure if u did but now I know u do. Give me a break!! Is Vive users having this issue? In case u guys don’t know the tax refund season in the US is right now. People who would normally not be able to purchase these units have the money to do so. I would love to see the amount of sales u guys had in the last 2 weeks ( less than the 14-30 day return policy FYI). And more importantly well within the time a consumer can fall in love your product. Ummmm u guys r screwed...get the bargain bins cleared folks. I am not going to return my oculus. But take those people who made this purchase within the last 48 hours ( I myself did my taxes early just so I can get vr) Not to mention the recent purchase of this company. Omg!!!
your optimistic pro oculus bs is getting me even more upset during an unbelievable outage ( omg I called it an outage??? Like it’s a utility??? Wait I did purchase it right? I’m not leasing it right? I bought it didn’t I?) then y the hell is it an outage?????????????????
Idk man, literally every piece of technology that you own long enough will stop working at some point. Doesn't really matter why it stops working, software, hardware, w/e. If its not working, its not working. I don't understand the outrage over something you can't control and that will happen eventually. Yeah, it sucks that its out, I'd love to be playing the one game I bought a Rift for, but I can't.

Im joking about it but I do appreciate the hard work you guys are probly doing to resolve this. Has to be hell in your office right about now.
Hard work!Serves them right for being so incompetent in the first place.
Update to this.
Hell in their office right now! I doubt it. Their all probably having a fucking leaving party awaiting termination.
