This article seems to suggest so. Has this been reported by other people and I've just missed it? I thought this tech was further away. Good news if it's coming sooner :).

Yup. They have been ready to deliver for some time now. Just waiting for HMD makers to catch up.

StarVR will also get Tobii Eyetracking and then Tobii collaborate with four other unannounced HMD manufacturers.

Just recently Werner@Tobii confirmed that the first HMD with eyetracking will be out late 2018 or early 2019.

Interesting stand from Tobii on the privacy concerns of eye tracking and making it clear to their partners. I can't see Facebook passing up that revenue it's far too valuable and also ties into their business model perfectly. They'll probably have their own tech in CV2. It would allow them to massively subsidise HMD's if they collect all that data to sell.

Did they give any ballpark figures on what it would cost? It's one thing getting it working another getting it into consumers hands for a palatable price!

They did. Around $20.

Edit: Didn't fint the article I was looking for but here is another one in swedish

Translated.
However, the cost of installing Tobii's eye control is low and we are told that even if it is not a simple operation, the price is no higher than about 200 kronor.

200 kronor ≈ $20

I had the Tobii EyeX. It worked well enough, but I always felt uncomfortable using it. If this follows the same pribcipals (laser tracking) I won't use it, that's for definite.

I ended up giving my EyeX away, having paid over £100 for it.

Edit: It also worked nowhere near as well as they claimed it would for spectacle wearers. I had to wear the largest lensed specs I had, which were also years old, for it to work as it should.

Not my best vid, but this was it:

Granted, I do wonder how it'll be good with glasses wearers like ourselves, their HMD eye tracking should be a bit better because of the fact it'll sit a bit closer to the eyes in the first place though.

Dunno what happened to my post I tried to edit and clarify.

But anyways. Here is a link to a Swedish hardware site where they mention it. Couldn't find the other article in English.
