How To Get Logs For Bug Reports for Consumer Rift (1.3+)

cybereality
Grand Champion
If you are experiencing issues either installing or using the consumer Rift hardware or software package (1.3 or newer), then please be sure to provide the following logs when reporting the issue.

If your issue is with the setup installer, either having errors or not completing, do these steps.

Open a File Explorer window and paste this in the URL field:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Oculus\
Then look for "OculusSetup.log" and upload it to your post. Please do *not* just copy/paste the text into the post area, as this becomes difficult to read. This folder may be hidden. Make sure you go into the Folder Options and choose Show Hidden Files and Folders first.

If you are having any other sort of problem after the installation, do the following.

Run "OculusLogGatherer.exe" by double-clicking the icon after navigating to this folder:
C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics
and upload the zip file to your post.

Thanks.

Ive tried everything I can think of. my oculus rift was working fine for the past year. I had some issues trying to get lone echo installed a few days ago so I ended up uninstalling my rift thinking reinstalling it might fix the issue I was having. now I cant get the software installed back on. ive gone as far as resetting my windows 10 and deleting everything on my system. but I still get an error trying to install the software. ive spent hours and plenty of google searches trying to figure this out. hopefully you can look into the logs and find out whats going on.

Just to update, I started getting more and more errors on my pc, turns out it was ram issues.
So I've ordered some more, hopefully afterwards I can get everything installed and running again.

I wish I would've tested the ram first thing, would've saved me many hours of frustration testing a dozen different things. Haha

Update 2. I had 2x8gb ram, only one stick was bad so I'm running my system on just the one good one now. But I was able to get everything installed and working correctly now. Phew!

I did read the post (march) about older nvidia driver version "Please make sure you are using Nvidia driver 388.59 specifically. Newer drivers may result in black screens. You should use DDU safe mode uninstall to remove the current driver first."

Does this still apply or should more recent nvidia drivers also be stable (again) with nvidia cards?

Switched to nvidia (1080) as my amd 390 died.
Rift was working perfectly fine on my previous card while still alive.

Steps taken so far without result.

Did uninstall AMD drivers with amd cleanup util and also used DDU to remove any leftovers.
After installing nvidia 1080 and have not been able to get HDM display. So far have tried driver versions 391.01 and most recent 398.82.
After the nvidia install removed and reinstalled oculus drivers. I can get (blindly) successful through oculus setup simply by pressing the ok button for the parts that must be done in the HDM.

Both versions only provide a black HDM (orange light), the sound works fine and in oculus home devices all are ok. When I move the HDM around while I have mirrored display on monitor turned on I can see tracking is okay. But no vision in HDM.

Have disabled fast boot (in bios) and fast start (win10) and power saving settings off for all devices.
Did check HDMI  connection which is directly on (the only) 1080 hdmi port without any interfaces and checked HDMI on HDM is firmly connected.

Will try old driver version (388) later on if confirmed that it will (still) solve the issue . However staying on old driver verion simply can not be the permanent solution.

Tried version 388.59 (DDU cleanup in safe mode) nothing changed. Attached gahthered log file, hope this somehow help identify issue.
