hdmi out to dvi on graphics card

I feel a little silly asking as I would expect to know this already, but can anyone confirm that when taking an HDMI output on your graphics card, using a passive dvi adapter, and feeding it to a dvi monitor, the resulting feed is what you would expect over dvi? (Black levels, no audio channels, etc)

If I recall, the graphics card adjusts based on seeing that it's not feeding an HDMI input on the receiver, but I wanted to pick the community's brain and make sure that I'm not doing my rift an injustice!

To answer my own question for future searches, yes, the converter leads to a true DVI signal being sent over the HDMI cable (at least in the case of my 7950).
