    Holding both the back button and menu button will often fix the pointer problem. The update would greatly depend on your internet provider.

    I've had holding the back & menu buttons (and wait for the LED on the controller to flash) fail to fix this. So far, though, I haven't seen a reboot of the Go fail to fix it.
