Granted that just opens up American's to ridicule for our own ridiculousness lol.One of my favorite jokes about American Football is something I heard quite recently on the Ozzy Man show. His mate, Mozza, said that American Football players are all geared up as if their about to go off to fight a dragon. That's hilarious! But the fact is that American Football is a multi-billion dollar industry. That's billions. With players literally making hundreds of millions of dollars a year... to actually score.FIFA is estimated to make around 6 Billion from the World Cup. Which would be the highest they’ve ever made.
The NFL is at 14 billion in 2017, with estimates reaching over 20 billion over the next 10 years. With American Football bringing in more than twice as much Revenue as Soccer, I'd say that people may very well care about games that have "scoring as a baseline."The act of watching any sport itself on a regular basis is the proverbial nicotine addiction. The scoring in the game is experienced while the person is partaking in the overall addiction. This is why Sports is often accompanied with Gambling (another addiction), and has extended to the combination of Gambling and Sports with Fantasy Football leagues and the like. Before a game even starts, the scores are 0-0. No one has to show up to see that. If the game ends at 0-0, then... what really happened? lolEvery noteworthy type of competition has "scoring" as a baseline. Swimming, Diving, Physical Combat. Heck, even a Spelling Bee Contest has everyone scoring.

The world cup may not make that much money but that is but 1 competition. The premier league brings in billions, and that is just our tiny little island. Soccer is huge... It's just not as big in the states.
