The purpose of this thread is to compile a list of any suggestions for additional enhancements and other "nice to have" things for the new Home 2.0 Environment. If anyone is having any issues with Home 2.0, please use a separate thread to report problems and grievances.
Granted there may be some enhancement requests that walk a fine line, such as the need to update Home 2.0 in such a way that it has little to no impact on the overall performance of the Rift when in VR. As of now we know that the Oculus Dev's are aware, and it is on their roadmap to engage in continuous improvement the Home 2.0 runtime optimization and overall experience.
That being said, I'd like to begin with my own Enhancement request:
In addition to owning the Oculus Rift, I also have GO. One of my favorite features in GO comes from browsing the store - which is an experience that takes the user in to the various environments of the VR Title you are browsing. So for example, if you click on Sea Life Relax then your 360 environment takes you under water and surrounded by whales. If you click on the Lone Echo 2 trailer, you end up inside the space station next to Liv.
Not all titles do this, but many of them have it implemented. It is similar to what Netflix does... how it starts to play a trailer when you hover over a film. Currently, the Oculus Store has a stationary video interface that you can watch while standing. But it would be amazing if developers could provide either a 360 image, 360 video, or even a full VR Trailer for anything in the store.
Imagine if Lone Echo had this, and when you clicked the "preview" button, you are suddenly Jack floating above the rings of Saturn. Not that this would be a playable demo, just a cut-scene that puts the user inside the VR world.
That feature alone would provide hours of fun browsing the 1,000+ (and growing) title list.

Functioning Music Players would also be neat, like, ones that can play MP3s or link to popular internet radio sites without having to use Dash and a browser window. Specifically, I demand one that looks like a record-player (artificial pops / scratches optional)
Oh, and how about the option to make fully-interior Home rooms? The current open-faced ones are cool, and the exterior scenes are very pretty to look at, but it also might be fun to make more of a house or somesuch? Ideally, the dimensions would be fully customizable, and there'd be an easy way to make walls (instead of having to pretend like it's Minecraft. Stacking dozens of cubes around is kind of a pain, and eats up a lot of rendering resources.)
In the worst case, allow pinning those windows somewhere else in a room, out of sight. Thanks!

Then all you have is the Home environment.

Good thread and suggestions, I like. OK my requests...
An option to auto-sleep my monitor when the Rift is put on, and wake it up when removed, this particular energy saving cancels out 50% of my GPU's power consumption when gaming and I do it manually every time I start a long session of Fallout 4 etc.
An option to auto-switch audio to the Rift when it's put on, an option that's properly integrated with Windows sound settings and auto-switched back when taken off. Some games, particularly Steam games have to have manual switching in Windows done before starting the game up to avoid sound form both Rift and speakers at the same time (this may be a feature in OTT but I don't use that).
Investigation and solution as to why GPU usage increases when Home is running but the Rift isn't worn, I'd estimate a 50W increase on my card based on GPU fan speed changes.
(yes I'm into energy saving)
Also, Zenbane's OP would be awesome, it would be great if the devs could somehow make it work in the Rift.
Other than the great ideas already put forward, just a couple of mobility suggestions inside Home 2.0:
- With turning, an option to have one thumb stick turn and the other strafe (same as in most games). As it is now, you either have turn on and both thumbs turn, or if you disable turning, both thumbs will strafe. Being able to do both would make positioning yourself and moving around a little less awkward.
- If the ability to strafe and turn simultaneously were implemented, a second turn option with higher speed, to match the speed of turning with both thumb sticks.
Can't have a bow, a gun and no binoculars right?
(Do let me know if I've missed them in some sub-menu)
"Ask not what VR can do for you – ask what you can do for VR" ;-)
It certainly wouldn't hurt for them to add more options / settings for movement, though!
Ah hehe cool thanks, I haven't done that as yet, good to know. So now just Strafing, while being able to turn with the other thumb (and I guess if they implemented this, we'd be back to one thumb turning and need the speed tweak).
Thanks mate much appreciated. I edited my post accordingly
the ability to add sound, and trigger volumes to objects for importing, so you can have (for example) a Raptor that roars at you when you get too close (this won't be annoying AT ALL)

Heck, what if we could get Home external environments FROM / based-on individual games? Like, just load up a vista taken right out of Lucky's Tale or Edge of Nowhere or something.

I can totally see your house now @snowdog with the girl on the pole in the corner..

The workaround for me right now is to just use the Core 2.0 Oculus Desktop (which I really like btw) and select my SteamVR shortcut. Then later, use the Desktop Task Bar to exit Steam processes. Actually this works pretty well.
Also have a 64gb Oculus Go which I love for travel and quick VR Fixes. Looking forward to the Quest!
