Seriously knock it off. You’re spamming the boards and it’s childish. Just upgrade your pc. And take your buddy with you.

@LZoltowski

No announcement on if any update has done it ok so I ask. It is certainly not childish to want an answer especially when the last 2 updates caused others install problems too for i7 which I'm about to buy. Please stop your childish personal attacks. I paid for the Rift and Games I currently can't use. It ain't spam either as this thread is about the latest update I hope they addressed the problem of installations (even on mine albeit an old PC which worked and was built to last a lifetime).

This update screwed memoryclocks of gtx 1070. usually 1070 memory clock is 4006MHz, after this update it wont go over 3802MHz. Went back to STABLE and it FIXED IT.
Then i started thinking, i did the update with msi afterburner running so i tough that might have caused it. So did the public test channel update AGAIN, and this time made sure no afterburner or rivatuner running(not even installed). Also did the update over fresh install of Nvidia's latest driver and also installed the win 10 pro jan 9 update, so i could be 100% sure it was installed over up_to_date vanilla system.

AGAIN lost that 204MHz on memory clocks. And it wont go to the 4006MHz on any load.
Playing ONWARD my GPU memory load is 7700Mb and the clocks stay at 3802MHz, same as just Oculus app running.
Switched back to stable, and it FIXED IT again.

So it is F..d, the

1.34 PTC

update.

Anyone from staff care to comment this reduction in performance?
Every update there is new useless stuff added, and performance drops in GAMES!?
And NEVER EVER has any sofware managed to reduce the clock speed of my hardware, untill THIS!
You trying to boost 20 series cards sales with this shenanigan?

It's funny how people on this forum actually complain about others just asking for details, what a joke.

Hang on tight, here we go. Head first (or face first) into Facebook VR.
When I want to be social, I take my headset off.

I foresee a generation of friends in a restaurant "socialising" on their phones. But wait! Soon they'll be able to sit in the same restaurant with VR headsets on and "socialise" even more.

Could we please have the ability (maybe a toggle setting in the desktop app) to don our headsets and have a vanilla VR interface pop up in a few seconds. Just Store, Library and Settings maybe?

Here's how it works for me....

My son who is now six was taken out of this country (to Turkey) on the belief he would return.  My wife/ex-wife had other ideas.  To make a long story short, technically my son was kidnapped to a country that doesn't belong to the Hague Convention.  The only way I've been able to see or play with my son has been through Skype.  I for one can not wait to be in the same room as him, whether it's virtual or not.  To be able to play a game and interact with him as if he were next to me is just ....WOW!

So when I want to be social, yeah I'll go to my local bar and have a beer....but soon if i want to see my son; play with my son; be with my son....yeah, I'm pretty hip to doing it through VR.

Now with that being said, can any one tell me if a Quest will be able to be in the same VR home as a Rift user?

Agreed. I see that as beyond "social". I don't think it will be too long before our Avatars will be 3D scanned models of ourselves with animated facial expressions. That will be amazing for long distance link ups, etc.
That's way better than what we call "social" media today.
I'm sick of seeing people "socialising" on their phones when they are with a group of people supposedly together for a social event.

Anyway VR is good for you and your son, good luck with a reunion some day.

go in your NVidia setting, 3D Settings, and set the powerplan to "Maximum Power" (instead of "Optimized one"). Check your GTX frequency now under and without load.

Honestly, the only reason I can think off is Oculus is now more optimized and need less ressource. That's why I suggest to push the Power Plan to max to see what happen, as usually your frequency should vary depending load.

Hmm interesting, was just noticing yesterday for first time my 2080 Ti mem clock was running a couple hundred MHz slower ( 6800).
Would never have occurred to me it could maybe be the Oculus update to 1.34 PTC.

So 1.34 is like this horse? It looks like a nice horse - I'd love to get one! 🙂 In fact I'm sure I'll be forced to get one soon, how exciting!

Confirmed.
Just tested couple of games with VR and without VR.
Once Oculus Home launches, Memory speed on my 2080 Ti drops from 7000 to 6800. Close Oculus Home, and memory speed goes back up to 7000.

Will also send feedback to Oculus on this. I would encourage everyone that sees this issue to do the same.
