Update (1/28/2019)

Hey all - just wanted to provide a quick update. Earlier this month we identified a Dash issue impacting memory clock speed on NVIDIA cards, and our engineering teams have been actively working with our friends at NVIDIA to identify a fix. Our teams appreciate your continued patience as we work to provide a resolution. If you are experiencing this issue or any others, please continue to utilize the "Provide Feedback" option within the Oculus software and open a support ticket with your logs.

I got the forced 1.34 update today, oh boy!  Actually, after running some of my high resource demand flight sims (X-Plane 11.30, Realflight 8, and Aerofly RC8) and racing sims (Assetto Corsa) I did not notice any performance diffs (= same FPS and no stuttering).  I have not really noticed any diffs in performance since 1.31.  Home 2.0 panels seem a little bit clearer/sharper.  I don't really use Home2 dollhouse/social functions so I cannot say if these work any better or not.

I cannot do any overclocking with my AW 17r4 (w/AGA w/gtx1080ti) so I don't use anything like msi afterburner.  So I'm not sure if any of my clock speeds are down or not.  In any case, 1.34 does not seem to be causing me any performance problems.  So far so good.

It's probably less than a JND for most users unless you measure your performance (JND, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just-noticeable_difference ). My main concern is that Oculus Support seems not to have read the 1.34 PTC user feedback, which more or less completely undermines the idea of having many users trying to help Oculus QA by installing PTC updates.
And underclocking video cards, even though the performance impact may not easily be noticed by the majority - and especially when Oculus Support should have been thoroughly infomed about this issue - doesn't provide much faith in the QA proces. I don't think it would hurt Oculus (Support) to admit some mistakes or just to state that they'll investigate the problem instead of total silence.

If 1.34 caused great problems beside vid card underclocking, we'd probably have seen many more threads/posts in here and on Reddit - I guess 1.34 works fine for the majority of users (even with the underclocking).

I can't imagine why they are doing such change on our VRam frequency, no logical reason I can find, so it's probably some kind of bug they introduced in 1.34. Sad they didn't react during PTC... As said I fine tuned during weeks my overclock to find the sweet spot. if they had raised the frequency instead of lowering it will have probably crashed my GPU. that's don't make me confident, and for now I'm back on flat screen for playing waiting some official reaction or a good explanation.

critcal error occured, an oculus update may not have ........etc etc.
every time i reboot,  oculus start updating 11 of 11......
it is stuck and I am stuck cause I am not a pc expert.
the last 2 updates oculus starts messing up.

any suggestions?

I believe you are still using win8.  I suggest you update to win10.  Otherwise you will continue to limit yourself to future  pcvr developments and options imho.

thx Tom, appreciate your time .But it seems nobody know for sure if  its due to windows 8 iso having windows 10.

iAfter having troubles doing update 1.33 they also said it was due to windows 8 but

after a couple of days the rift was working again ........untill this update1.34 today....critical error....etc

So is it for sure a windows 8 problem this time?

Not sure if your specific issue is win8 related but it well could be imho.  It seems to me, and I could be wrong, that the majority of reported problems are from win7/8 users and/or ones with minimum spec cpu/gpu's.

Aside, and does not apply to you misty btw;

Also, seems a bit strange to me that so many negative comments come for 1 post wonders (= first user post).  While I'm sure that many of these are from actual newbies who don't yet know how to search and troubleshoot problems, I kinda think that some are just plain trollish.

So, all issues  with the 1.34 PTC got addressed?

NO! the reduced gpu memoryclockspeed is there. -204MHz on gtx1070.
In Onward that is negative 5-10% difference in performance headroom (of oculus debug tool perf overlay)
Havent tested other games yet.. will post results when i have.

ANYONE FROM STAFF CARE TO COMMENT THIS? Give me a reason for this and i can accept this. Otherwise reducing hardware performance is not acceptable!!! C'mon this can not be that hard to understand...

Hey Kelju (and anyone else), if you're noticing issues with reduced GPU memory clock speed with the 1.34 release then please collect the Oculus Diagnostic logs using the steps here https://support.oculus.com/172672339980954 and create a support ticket at https://support.oculus.com so we can look into this. Thanks! -Rick

This was reported during the test channel. Does Oculus not actually read the reports?

Hi Rick, so are you saying that this clock speed reduction is not supposed to happen, that it is actually a bug? Because if you are, then PTC is a waste of time.

I suspect they're only looking for specific feedback. If a 1000 people say "Wow! I can stream to Facebook", they won't see the 20 or so people with mem clock problems. (Damn you, Pareto)

Dear Oculus, If it ain't broke, don't fix it, please.

Just got my Ryzen 1080ti win 10 build up and running. Didn't get a chance to have anything installed before I was blessed with 1.34. I had to update windows to get oculus installed. Other than that no issues with Oculus or the update to 1.34. I put one of my 1TB SSD's that had some oculus and steam VR games on it already. My other drive with the VR games installed is a 16x PCIe slot card that my new PC doesn't have a slot for. It will have to stay with the old PC.
The 1.34 update keeps trying to update on my old Win 7 machine but so far has failed, probably a good thing. Sounds like I avoided getting a game over by oculus update by just a smidgen with my new PC.
I got to play Skyrim first, it looked pretty good on my old machine but big wow on how it looks and plays on the new one.
Doom VFR is where my old machine really showed its age. Played OK but ugly, I knew there were textures I just wasn't seeing.
I never got a chance to see how my 1080ti performed with 1.33 before 1.34 installed. I think I'm actually moved and all objectivity lost with my performance, even with 1.34, to get my boxers in too much of a bind over this memory freq thing right now.

I wish there could be more open dialogue here about "Home". It's importance to people's experience. Those that think it is an essential part of theirs, please stand and be counted. Seems to me that they are marketing to young females with the balcony and romantic setting. That may bode very well with the quest if the ladies adopt that as the replacement for Wii fit
Am I wrong in thinking that just about everyone here, including myself, has some serious nerd tendencies? I would much rather have my home like that Oculus touch demo in the trailer with all the retro gadgets and expansion cards. Soda cans lying about. Maybe a retro PC with a touch of DOS. Maybe some other interests like a garage full of tools to work on classic cars.
Only way I could possibly appreciate the romantic balcony apartment, is if it were filled with naked animated people getting it on. Lots of porn music with wah wah
