Hello. I plugged every thing in on my Rift. Nothing is happening. The light on the headset is on. I downloaded the software. Any ideas?

I looked at your other thread. If you're trying to set up your Rift on a Surface Pro 4, you have no chance.
Someone in your other thread should have answered your question about it.
The Surface Pro is a tablet with Intel Graphics. It's not even close to powering a Rift. Please, before you spend any more money on this, go here .................

........ to get info about required specs.
Note that laptops can be very problematic with the Rift. If you will be buying a new one, check with the guys on here to make sure it will work, before you buy it.

Thanks. I don't know what to do now. Can I get a tower without a monitor, or do I need a monitor?

Thanks for letting me know. Not to be melodramatic, but I am attached to a 50' tube and now I have 2 things I can't do Google earth on. Is there a cheap PC that will handle it, or should I give up and send everything back?

I honestly believe, that for you, it is worthwhile.
Google Earth in VR on the Rift is an amazing experience.

The cheapest set up for the Rift (and most easily upgraded) is a desktop PC. I have a GTX 1060 (6GB) in my PC and it is just fine for Google Earth VR. I'd start looking for a "Gaming" PC with a GTX1060 6GB, 8 or 16GB RAM.

With regard to the monitor. Yes you need a monitor. You'll always need a monitor for a PC. Also Oculus requires that the Rift and the monitor be connected to the same video card. If you're mainly in it for Google Earth VR, you don't need a whizz-bang monitor.

I don't know where you're buying from, but if you do some searching, and come up with some systems that fit your budget, post them here and we can help out. ( note that minimum spec is GTX 1050Ti, 8GB system RAM)

Thank you. I'm looking on Amazon. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer me. These things so far are looking to be about $1000. With what I've spent so far that may be a bit out of my price range. Is that what I'm gonna have to spend?

Could I get away with something like this, or do I need to be in the $600 range? https://smile.amazon.com/HP-EliteDesk-800-Performance-Refurbished/dp/B07B8VX5HZ/ref=sr_1_49_sspa?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1548911726&sr=1-49-spons&keywords=gaming+pc&psc=1

If you would be willing to pick out the minimum I could get away with and post an Amazon link, I'll get you a $50 Amazon gift card. I'm not going to be lunging around the room. I think you're right. I think I need Google Earth VR.

The PC in the link has the same major problem as your own laptop. It has integrated Intel graphics.

This is an entry level PC that meets Oculus' minimum requirements (as far as I can tell).........

It has no monitor, keyboard and mouse though.

Same, but in black..........

This one has K/B & Mouse ..........

Another slightly more powerful option, with pretty colours

It's a community support forum, no payment req'd. (the offer is appreciated though) 🙂

Don't rush into anything though, there could be better options and I hope others step in to help.
