Buying a DELL XPS8930. Anyone upgraded to a GTX1080 non-oem? You can!

I've done my research and this machine is both discreet and of good speed for VR gaming.
I know I can upgrade the cpu fan to the new DELL made upgrade to lower the loud fan noise and core heat by about 18degrees.
I read that the Secure Boot prevents a non-oem gpu card from even booting and so it must be turned off before changing cards as I have a EVGA GTX1080 SC2.
Anyone had trouble with this? I presume it can fit for the size and I prefer to save the cost of having to sell my own or wasting it in a spare PC.
Also it comes stock as a 460W PSU but I think the SC2 is more efficient? It only needs the 1 connector to work.
If any issue I'll probably get a 550W upgrade. Other than that does anyone use one of these and does it kick VR ass?!!!

Beware the PSU which swings out does not easily lock back into place and makes the side panel a struggle to close properly!

OK I fixed this now too. It's due to the thickness of the gpu card's top metal heatsink and Dell's big plastic block has a rubber cushion which needs cut out where it contacts to allow room to close the swinging PSU and lock properly. Then the side panel may also close.

I've bought this EVGA G3 80+ modular 550W PSU but there's no adapters to power the DVD. They used a 6pin small sata with 2 wires (half of a slim Sata 13pin). Seems I may have to use the existing wire and either solder then to the 15pin Sata connector (seems to be 5 tags available on the rear of these) OR cut the whole existing 15pin and try find a male adapter to fit the new female 15pin connector. Any help?
I am lost why they used a separate 7pin for USB power but think it's due to adding USB3 to the front?

Looks like I either need: part# P6PFWVT-15PM

Or more awkwardly https://www.amazon.co.uk/SilverStone-SST-PP06B-3SATA80M-Slimline-Sleeved-Cable/dp/B00A98TWF2/ref=sr_...

This confirms the most suitable part  P6PFWVT-15PM if you can get one...(same as this Alienware pic in #7)
https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R6-upgrade-460w-PSU/td-p/6107684

Else it could be soldered onto the MOLEX of the PERIF cable if you know which of the 4 works.

Well...The good news is the above Part for the Optical DVD Drive is working. I'm glad as they are rare and just 101 left in stock from USA alone!
Now then, the EVGA PSU fits but the drilled 4 screw holes are misaligned! EVGA are obviously crap at the ATX specs. For now it's sitting inside snug due to a metal plate at the PSU rear provided as stock by Dell. It really should be screwed in to make proper grounding! I may need to drill the Dell case to allow for this but using a mains powered drill makes me bothered for any static damage to the m/b. Any thoughts if it's safe guys?

I've noticed much better performance in E:D which had occasional freezes before with the stock 460W stock PSU. I can now get better results with HMD SS=1.75 rather than just 1.25

The bad news the EVGA Modular SATA Power cables (3x15pins>6pin) are all straight plugs which means the case closes but bulges! I've ordered this to solve it which handles 2 extra drives and the above Part for the DVD power. 2 crap points of manufacturing for EVGA!!!

(as a coincidence this is the part I thought I may require above)
EDIT: Unfortunately although it has 3x 15pin Sata Power it also even has the 6pin Optical Drive BUT it is NOT COMPATIBLE!

WARNING: Unfortunately the right-angled Silverstone cable above won't work. Although it has 3x 15pin Sata Power it also even has the 6pin Optical Drive BUT it is NOT COMPATIBLE!
Your better choice would be a Silverstone PSU that may come with that cable perhaps also. EVGA are ridiculous for no angled connectors!!!

"AWESOME" - I had thought the only other way was via cabled adapters. These will do nicely thanks @LZoltowski 😉
The only thing is I'd need to change the SATA cables to straight ones too. I can't win LOL!

I've looked again at the 6pin block which has a blank pin in a different position to the EVGA psu. I'm thinking I could reposition the wires to the correct spec so I've emailed Silverstone and they've replied NOT to use it with EVGA else it may damage it (how biased!) Another way I suppose is use a Saw!

" Please don´t use SST-PP06B-3SATA80M with your EVGA PSU
or it can damage your system. PP06 series PSU cables are designed for SilverStone
PSUs only.

THEN PRINT THAT IN THE SALES DESCRIPTION !

I can't tell if 2 plugs will fit on the 15+7 side OR is this intended only for a 22pin cable with no option?
There are others with the angle to the opposition side also to help which to get.

I've traced the Silverstone wires as follows if I am able to find out the EVGA spec..(X-is the unused and is different between manufacturers)
