First test with my panoramic 3d cam : https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4984
Website : http://www.panocam3d.com

ADVICE FOR USE:
- Allows total immersion by limiting the field of view in a sitting position:

VRPLAYER SETTING :
File -> Open file -> with DirectShow -> Select the video "Plane Ride 0.4.mp4"

Media -> format -> Over/Under
---------> projection -> Sphere
---------> Effect -> None

Device -> Layout -> SidebySide
----------> Distortion -> None
---------->Tracker -> Oculus Rift

(Personnal setting - You can adjust this last setting for your eyes and test different FOV)

Tools -> Settings -> Display -> FOV : 110
---------------------------------> Horizontal offset : 70
---------------------------------> Vertical offset : 0

Really promising and I wanted to get this to work perfectly but my eyes just can't get comfortable, so let me tell you what I tried:

By "Open video" I assume you meant File -> Open File... -> With VLC or With DirectShow (I tried both).

Seems like there should be an additional step to set the Projection to Sphere, but I'm just guessing. Looked way more immersive with Sphere projection. Is this right?

By "Display / Layout" I assume you meant "Device / Layout".

I assume the default Barrel distortion.

FOV was already set to 110 for me and this seemed about right.

Horizontal Offset on the other hand, -160 would never work for me (as a human) in a million years, so I'm wondering what resolution you've tried this at? I'm working with 1920x1080 and making it full screen. Not knowing how the Horizontal Offset relates to IPD/lens separation exactly, I used the default value of 72 and played around with nearby values, but my eyes could not get comfortable for more than 5 seconds.

The video (and your panocam hardware) looks great so I'm looking forward to more info on how to get this working!

Hi Drash, thank for comment.
For the horizontal offset, it's hard to config (different for each person). In pause, try to change offset 5 by 5.

My setting in VRplayer in full screen on my 27" at 1920*1080p :

File -> Open... -> select the video "Plane Ride 0.4.mp4"

Media -> format -> OverUnder
- - - -> projection -> Sphere
- - - -> Effect -> None

Display -> Layout -> SidebySide
- -- -> Distortion -> None

Tracker -> Oculus Rift

Tools -> Settings -> General -> FOV : 110
- - - - ->Horizontal offset : -160

Hopefully it helps you

EDIT : I'm sorry, i realize, i don't have the last version of vrplayer :oops: I check setting immediatly

Interestingly, I installed the version of VR Player that was bundled with the panocam video download, and it seems to be slightly different than what I see in your screenshot:

vrplayer.jpg

The Display menu says Device, and the File menu has extra options shown in the picture. The version that I have installed says 0.4.1.0. How about yours?

EDIT: Just saw your edit about not having the latest version. 😛

Downloading and checking this out, 3d Videos are great! I've been using vr player to watch 3D movies and I love it, avatar was pretty cool in the rift. 🙂

Super cool! Thanks for making this. I can really see a huge potential with this, there's lots of room for improvement, but it was still a very nice ride. I hope to see more from you

just to make sure, I "ASSUME" that when viewing the "grid", two dots are supposed to be overlay on top of each other, right? if not, then we'll need to adjust vertical / horizontal positions until they do.

But here's the problem I have ... is the X axis NOT supposed to be lined up with each other?, because I can clearly see that it's actually kinda forming a small X vertically compressed
