New Controllers Include Secret Messages - Revealed!

"If you’re an early buyer of the Oculus Quest or Oculus Rift S headset, you may get a hidden message in your motion controllers. Oculus executive Nate Mitchell tweeted today that the phrases “This Space For Rent” and “The Masons Were Here” had been printed on components for “tens of thousands” of Touch controllers. The Easter eggs were only supposed to appear on prototypes, but Mitchell says they “accidentally made it onto the internal hardware for tens of thousands of Touch controllers.”"

Anyone that owned one of the first Amiga's will be familiar with the dev signatures and paw print found inside the casing of their machine [Images]. But this feels more than just a "easter-egg" - is feels like a statement by departing employees on how they felt about the situation - especially that "Space for Rent" quip, not really funny.

Could be tongue in cheek. It's a non-issue for me either way. I don't care about some hidden code. That's been going on from programmers and developers since the beginning lol.

I wonder if 10 years from now guru Larry will cover this in a fact hunt.  (Ideally with the last word from whoever put these eggs in!)
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

Because I LOVE (making up) a good conspiracy theory...

What if this "accident" wasn't an accident, but rather a way of creating collectibility for the sake of it? The first 40,000 units to roll off the line having a unique, "scandalous" feature?   That might entice more people to buy early, in hopes of getting one of these special units.  I certainly hope I can get my hands on one!

Maybe it's their way to counteract this whole  "I won't buy Rift-S until I find out more about the Index" situation.

Side note:   Anyone else excited about the fact that they apparently have over fourty-thousand units of Rift-S and Quest already manufactured, and far enough into the distribution process that they can't recall them?  That makes me think that both devices will be launching very, very soon!

It's hard being the voice of reason when you're surrounded by unreasonable people.

Wow, it seems that they have had a bigger problem internally that Nate revealed!

Facebook Workers Put ‘Big Brother Is Watching’ Inside Oculus Touch Dev Kit

"While the messages are clear attempts at humor, one which appeared inside dev kits states “Big brother is watching,” an obvious reference to global fears about the reach and influence of Facebook’s social platform."
