stormland looks GOTY material to me, and is without doubt the most interesting game which isnt in a cockpit of some description for me.............. but what i really REALLY want.... is time to play the sackful of untouched titles i already have
Will Stormland also play on the Rift, or only the Rift S ?
I played Stormland on the Rift. All Rift-S software is Rift CV1 compatible now and in the foreseeable future.

Both. I don't think you'll see any games or apps that work on the Rift-S, but not on the Rift.
Intel i7 7700K (4.5 GHz); MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Gaming X (oc 2100 MHz gpu boost, 11 GHz mem speed); 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 MHz; MSI Z270I Gaming Pro Carbon AC (VR-Ready) mainboard; Samsung 961 Evo M.2 SSD 128GB (for OS) + Samsung EVO 860 4TB SSD (for games) + Toshiba P300 High-Performance HDD 3TB (for games); Win10 OS; Valve Index and Oculus Rift CV1, the latter nearly always using super sampling 2.0.

Finally, a full game with a campaign and story and shooting.
I'm hooked - but Asgard's Wrath greatly surprised me, not sure Stormland can be better, but nearly as good will be more than enough for me
Note that CV1 was promoted in the announcement trailer to Stormland, I'm thinking that there's a good chance that Stormland - like Asgard's Wrath - was primarily designed for an oled display
Note that you get a free Stormland statue for your Oculus Home if you pre-order the game. I've pre-ordered the game
