Can't reach oculus service.....What should I do??

NerveGear

I bought the product yesterday from Amazon.

There was no battery or manual.

I felt something strange, but decided not to care about the pleasure of receiving the product.

However, after the installation of the program can not proceed. I've tried repairing, but there's nothing different than reinstalling.

What should I do??

This is happening to me as well. I restart my computer and it gives me the same error. I've attempted to repair a few times and I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times.

Same thing happened to me,but now I can't even install the set up software at all  as it freezes up on the first step. I get to Install Occulus  Software Installing gets to the last an sets there.  I let it go over night  woke up when I head to get up an still stuck at same spot.  When I 1st bought the thing it set up fine an worked now I got a $431 paper weight. Support has not been at all that helpful. If I have to return this they will not like me as I will be leaving a not so nice review. I have more then enough space all  drives are up to date, yet I still can't reinstall the setup softwear at all.

Check and make sure that the "Oculus VR Runtime Service" is running.

    1. Start -> Run
    2. Type in "services.msc"
    3. Scroll down the services list to the "O" section and look for "Oculus VR Runtime Service" and make sure it exists. If it's not running, you can right click on it and select "Start". The startup type should be set to "automatic".

If you don't see the Oculus service listed, it means you probably had an installation issue and you should re-install the oculus app.

I too have been having this issue and have not been able to fix it even after many fresh re-installs, the "Oculus VR Runtime Service" will not start even if a try to do it manually as it just throws back a error window ??

Have submitted a ticket regarding this as it is very annoying and not sure what else to do about it!!!!!

Well, at least it isn't just me! That makes me feel a *little* bit better. I think they have issues right now and are not wanting to admit it to us.

EDIT: Something that just occurred to me. I wonder if it is a geographical problem. I wonder if it might be resolved if you had a VPN into a different area? I am in Arkansas. Anyone else from maybe outside the U.S. that is having the problem?

WTF!!! It suddenly started working!!!! I was doing the repair part and it just finally worked. Now I gotta see about getting it moved over back to my D drive where I had it before. Couldn't get it to install there again for some reason.

I'm dealing with this issue right now; trying to get some work done on a client project. Keeps saying it can't reach the service, restart or repair. Unplugged and plugged headset back in, reinstalled from scratch. Exasperated.

Guys it’s probably just certain Oculus servers that it couldn’t reach. It’s possible that those servers were under maintenance for some reason.

Just relax and wait it out.

Having the same problem, tried every solution listed. Reinstalled everything, Oculus VR Runtime Service is listed as started, yet still getting the error message same as in the original post.

Hey I think i figured it out. The thing for me was that i just disconnected all the headset cables from my computer and it started working! Try that.

Tried that, still not working unfortunately. I'm going to try reinstalling the program, and then stopping/starting the Oculus VR Runtime Service. It starts up automatically as it should, but I'm wondering if essentially rebooting the process might help in some way. Will update soon.

It’s December 2019 and I’m having the same problem, but it will quit and keep trying to reboot. I can’t link my YouTube video I made which shows all of you what exactly I’m going through. I have also tried to do the OVRServer_x64 thing too. The YouTube video is called :Oculus Rift S software “can’t connect to server”. I’ve tried everyone’s suggestions so far and nothing.

Did you try to remove everything that says oculus on your computer because i fixed my problem by deleting everything containing oculus and reinstalled the software and it worked.

I’m having the same problem. I’ve tried re-pairing it around 10 times now. I just got a Rift S from the Website and it finally shipped in, only for the App to not work. Very annoyed on why it’s not working, I just want to get into VR...

Why don't you try describing all  you have done and tried up to this point along with your complete system specs, etc, rather than tagging on an older thread saying you have the same when the thread has many variables amongst different users?

This is a user-user forum and the more info users see on what is going on with  your end the more help someone might be able to offer. You might even consider just starting a new thread with as much detail as you can provide on your issue.

Or you can just tag onto a 6 month old thread and say "me too", but you likely will not get any help from any other users.

It's now may, and I am having this issue. I have contacted 3 staff members, and all of them had said "update your system" or something around that. I have a windows 10, and I know that it is more than capable of it. I have a good graphic's card, along with a good hard-drive, just it says it is missing a file for something. I have tried re-installing it, installing patches for it, along with a-bunch of other things. I don't know when this is going to work, but I know that this hasn't been an issue for just me, and it hasn't been broken for an ENTIRE YEAR.

If its a missing file and you just tried re-installing it, try deleting the cache for Oculus Home. This sometimes fix cases being unable to connect to service from time to time or crashing/freezing during download. (corrupted files)

Apparently, the file name is OculusSetup-DownloadCache in C drive. That all the info I can provide as I haven't seen such a file, unless it only shows for failed installs.

now it is June 2020 and i have the same issue with a nearly new installed W10. I Have tried uninstall/Install the App, install the Patch (March 2018) re-download the app and installed it again, nothing worked for me. Windows is updated. App ist the default recommended from Oculus.
File with the name "OculusSetup-DownloadCache" is not be found on c: drive.
Is there any ideas how to solve this issue?
