I brought the oculus rift thinking my newly brought nivida geforce gtx 1050 included laptop would make it work but it doesn't.Any chance I can get something else for under £400?
Yes, buy the following second hand parts from ebay - this system meets the recommended spec in most games and you can always upgrade the GPU when you have some spare cash. This is just under £400 in total and is everything you need to get started in VR. If you need help installing then message me and I'll help you step by step. If you can get an extra £80 you can get a GTX 1070 8Gb instead of the Radeon RX 480 8Gb but the Radeon is good enough.
Spec:
Intel Core i7 3930k @ 4.1ghz Arctic Freezer 12 CPU Cooler X79T motherboard 16 Gb DDR3-1600mhz AMD Radeon RX 480 8Gb 120Gb SSD (for OS and a few apps and games) 1Tb HDD (for everything else) 650W 80+ PSU Mid-Tower case Windows 10 x64 Professional
£386.07 - spare change for a keyboard and mouse.
System has enough USB 3.0 ports for your needs, you'll have to use a wired internet connection OR buy a wifi card/USB stick if you need wifi.
Yes, I wrote a spec and gave you links to items on ebay but it looks like they've removed it - I'll PM you. Just buy second hand parts, you can build a 6 core i7 3930K, 16 GB DDR3-1600, RX 480 8Gb, 120gb SSD, 1tb HDD, Case, 650W 80+ PSU for under £400 and that'll meet the recommended specs for your HMD.
Maybe from ebay, if you find a great deal. Try searching for "vr oculus computer" there, but don't buy unless you're absolutely sure that you get what you want. VR ready is not always same as Oculus ready.
sidenote: if you have "rift s" instead of "rift", no chance.
