(SOLVED) can't install the Oculus software, please bloody help me!

OK,
So after finally downloading the Oculus software, it gets to the end and wont install and i get this attached error message. I've tried like 5 times now and still nothing. Its frustrating as i have to re download the software each time. I've also tried installing to a different drive and still nothing works. I've been in touch with online chat support, but the guy didn't know what to do to help me? he said "try to re install it again in a couple of days time and see if that works?" I was like wha??
So here i am reaching out to you guys! 
Has anyone had this problem and managed to resolve it? I mean how hard can this be? its just downloading and installing software right?

    I'm a curious man so when i saw the title "does anyone have a clue?" i just had to click.

    Not everybody is the same as I though.

    Therefore, the one person you need might just ignore such a title.

    Change it to something more relevant such as can't install - "sorry, we encountered an error during installation" or "can't install the Oculus software, please bloody help me!" - you just never know.

    And, reopen that ticket (didn't know there was an online chat support?) - or open a new one - that's a terrible response.

    I suggest reading each thread below (they are only short) - each one has a solution - read them all, pick which one you want to try first, then try the next, i'm sure you'll get it working.  When you post in support you're best posting all of your PC specs too.  Good luck and if you get it working, don't forget to post again to let us know what worked for you.

    Ok, i seem to have solved the issue! Ive always had my windows defender disabled, but it turned out i needed to have my firewall turned off too! Ok, thank you though for your help!



    Time to go and have fun then!

    Innocent software says "please turn off your antivirus and firewall so I can install".
    We say (well not me, I turned off nothing ) "sure thing, come on in".

    You wouldn't do that for anything else would you?

    I'm having the problem as of today with the Rift S.  Since the latest update, the app crashes every 10 min or so.  Afte the 5th or 6th crash, the headset went black and doesn't work at all.  Trying to reinstall the app, but getting the error.

    Check that you have plenty of free space on drive C and that no windows updates are pending.

    Thanks.  Looks like it was the Win10 AV causing the problem.  Install went fine with antivirus disabled.

    none of these suggestions work. reformating oc right now. gunna return it if i cant instalk the software after.

    Hi, same problem as the thread starter. All of the sudden the app fucked up, and the rest is history.

    ahh same problem! tried the AV stuff still have the error. only 1 month old. going to geek squad, if they can't fix it i want a new rift or a refund also Not solved!

    Sorry, this is more of a community help forum than the Oculus direct. Please contact them at https://tickets.oculusvr.com/hc/en-us/requests/new if you are having problems with your install/app as they will be able to get more logs and see higher level issues that could be going on in the background. Please keep in mind - it's not that wide spread of an issue other wise we would be getting lots of comments per day with a multi page bomb going off. This means its an issue with the environment of your computer either it being a driver, incompatible hardware or hardware related issues, software such as AV/OS/Updates/other background services/etc or simply something not plug in right.

    I have been using my Oculus Rift for over a year and it has worked fine. But then one day, it doesn't work. I try to reinstall it, BUT I ALWAYS GET AN ERROR MESSAGE AFTER ATTEMPTING FOR DAYS ON END

    I'm having the same issue as IronManRobby. I got my rift for christmas and it has worked relatively well. About a week ago, my oculus software just kinda stopped working. I tried to fix it with the Oculus Repair software, but that crashed midway through and I think the issue may have to do with that. I am very experienced with computers and fixing internal errors, but this one has me stumped. Please help.
    Edit: Nevermind. It just kinda fixed itself. I don't know how, but I'm not complaining.

    trying it rn, but apparently you have to turn off your firewall for a bit,(sketchy but I'm taking the risk)

    I'm having the same problem as of Monday. During the summer I successfully installed The Oculus Rift S software, but now I'm getting the same error as the thread poster, and I've troubleshooted all of Oculus Ticket Help instructions, now waiting for them to respond, it's been almost a day. It's frustrating that it used to work and now it doesn't, that's temperamental software.

    Same problem here. I bought a new computer and I'm trying to install the Oculus software, and it fails with the same error message. I've turned off the av and firewall, no change. I tried opening a ticket, but so far they have been useless. They keep suggesting I send them files that don't exist because the install is failing, and I tell them this, then someone else asks for the same files again. It's freaking maddening.

    Same problem.  Using Bitdefender Antivirus software.  In Bitdefender - turned off the "Safe Files" protection within the "Protection" menu to resolve 12/17/19.

    I had this problem recently cause of the 1.12 update messing CV1s performance so I thought reinstalling it and stopped the 1.12 update will fix my issue but then I encountered this thing "restart computer" sooo I tried everything on the internet obviously with no luck but then I realized.. my headset and sensors are still plugged in.. so I unplugged my CV1 and 2 sensors and it managed to install so there is another solution to this problem.

    I'm having problems with my Rift S Installation too. It always fails after installing the USB drivers (I can see it doing something in the device manager at that time). Tried 20+ times with redownloading, installation from different locations, new windows local admin, restarts over and over.
    The device itself seems to work, as its speakers are playing fine even before installation.

    Bump, still having this issue in 2020!!! No idea how to fix this as above solutions have not worked

    I have the same issue. Deactivating the firewall doesn't work! Never had problems until now. Latest update did not work, driver could not been updated, uninstalled the software and reinstalled and nothing works, now. Frustrating...
