Controller losing track

Hi there,

Every now and then my right controller is losing track. It just floats in space and doesnt respond to movement. Only solution is removing the battery or reboot the quest. Anybody else experience this issue? Shall i return the quest and ask for a new one?

Happens to me too. Mostly right but an occasional left controller also. Thanks for the tip that removing the battery also works. Seems quicker than rebooting and restarting a game.

I have the issue every 30 to 60 minutes. How often do you have the issue?

@OculusSupport

Can you give us feedback if the controller tracking issue is a hardware or software issue?

eg: do i need to return my quest for a replacemt?

Hey @martin.degraaf.96, this does sound like this may be a hardware issue. If you haven't already, I recommend trying a factory reset on the Quest. Instructions on performing a factory reset are available here https://support.oculus.com/298586437740040/. This will help rule out a potential issue with the software. Please feel free to contact support at https://support.oculus.com if you need more help. Thanks! -Rick

I wouldn't suggest this to those who have the Wifi connection issue. My right controller lost track once. Powering off the headset and restarting solved the issue.

Poweroff the headset and restarting did not resolve the issue. Also tried a factory reset, but that didnt help also. I have returned
the oculus quest and received a new one. The new one doesnt loose tracking anymore 🙂

Yeh, it is likely a hardware issue that can't be fixed. Wrote to support and got the run around for 3 days. All they did was sending me scripted answers just like the one above and links to pages on this their website as if you can't read it yourself to begin with. Now they asked me to wait another 3-5 days for someone else to help me. From what I can see on this forum there is no solution except hopefully they will send you a replacement, after of course you first mailed yours back to them.  No thank you. I returned my to Best Buy and got my money back right away.

If anyone is still reading this and having this issue, I had an issue with this the other night with my right controller, I'm right handed so naturally adjusting the headset on my head would use my right hand, It occurred to me that the headset uses the cameras to detect the controllers, when I looked at the lenses they had finger prints on them, I cleaned them off and the controllers have been fine since. If it happens again try this too! Of course this worked for me it may well be that others are a hardware issue.
