Viveport Video - great app for watching short films (Oculus Video no longer works)

Just went through all games and apps last night. To my amazement I saw that one of my favorite apps had less than a 3/5 average rating based on about 1000 ratings:

https://www.oculus.com/experiences/rift/926562347437041

Of course user experiences will vary and depend on expectations, and this app won't play all your own movies flawlessly, then again I don't think this app was ever intended to be good at that.

Instead I find the Vimeo short film collection utterly amazing, and during the last year available films have been constantly updated. Watching short films (normal 2D, Vimeo) is the one thing I use in this app. Sure you can see some 360 degrees videos too, but the resolution is usually horrible (=very blurry) and I don't care for these videos. But sitting down in my own VR cinema watching awesome short films is beyond amazing - and there're more than 1000 to choose from (I think, the list simply goes on and on).

Some of my favorites:

And I know we can't discuss politics in here, but I guess I'm allowed to show a movie available in Oculus Video that I like a lot  o:)  😉

Maybe this thread could be about short films you've seen in your Oculus Video VR cinema - did you see anything that maybe moved you more than a normal full length movie?

EDIT: Oculus Video no longer works with sound in the Vimeo videos, thus the app basically is dead and has been removed from the Oculus Store:

- fortunately, Viveport Video still works with Vimeo short films, but does not have as many Vimeo videos as Oculus Video. Viveport Video gets new Vimeo videos several times each weeks, so it's all good/fine:

I'm really happy that sound again works in the short films - my recommendations for the week  o:)

1. Our Pleasures. The sound check - to make sure the CV1 headphones kick as much as ever (this is just a small taste - the full video is on Oculus Video - Vimeo videos):

2. Forest Eater. A great encounter with the forces of nature - I didn't read much about this volcanic eruption when it happened, quite a moving short film - and probably best on oled due to the colors and dark scenes:

3. Present Imperfect. And this one was really great too:

Again, these movies should be seen in your local Oculus cinema  B)

Also some of these short films each year receive oscars - this year nominated movies were:

Winners were:

Animated

Live action
https://youtu.be/Jljl9h3K5iE

- and they're all part of the Vimeo Videos, for example here:

Of course not all of the shorts are great, but I love the indie spirit - usually these movies introduce an agenda, a story or a concept and are made by very dedicated persons. These movies rarely have big budgets, instead they are about passing on ideas and experiences - often I find myself moved more by one of these 10 min movies than a big budget full length movie.
Often I don't have time to watch many full length movies, but I always have time for 1 or 2 shorts - using the Oculus Video app 😉

The Baldur's Gate 3 cinematic trailer has now been added to the Vimeo Videos - great to watch in VR:

Also this year's Oscar winner "The Neighbors Window" can be found on page 29, it's an awesome and very moving short film.

There're several covid-associated shorts in Oculus Video, love that there's always a fresh selection - but this one was really hilarious:

Only use the link to get the name: shorts should always be seen in your local Oculus Theater!  o:)  B)

Admitted - this one is too short to really recommend - but you can also find it using Oculus Video and it's got some potential 😉

PS. This one was also interesting, saw it yesterday in Oculus Video - so this is what young people who can't play Alyx do with their lives nowadays?  :#

Short o' the Week - and this one's truly amazing - the full version should and can be experienced in your local Oculus Theater 😉

I've lost sound again in the Vimeo videos - sound works perfectly in all other videos in the Oculus Video app, only Vimeo videos are affected.

I'd be thankful to know if anyone still has sound in the Vimeo videos!

Bump - anyone got sound in the Vimeo videos? I've lost it for more than a month now.

Watching Vimeo videos (=short films) was one of my favorite things to do with the CV1, I really miss the sound  :'(

Note that I got perfect sound in the 360 degrees vids and in the Oculus Video apps - it's only the sound in the Vimeo videos which is gone - maybe Vimeo switched sound codec without telling Oculus...
