We have seen much success with VR arcade venues using LIV to create Mixed Reality videos of player in virtual experiences. We have also seen this used ironically in the HTC Vive promotional videos. There have also been some really impressive MR video of Tilt brush compositions. And a number of Youtubers have also made a bit about videoing themselves playing a selection of VR titles - but it seems that Facebook Reality Labs are doubling down on MR capture as a big feature of Quest 2.
Live streaming is not new though, and Facebook begin Live Streaming before TikTok existed. When TikTok began, it was only video-sharing like YouTube. TikTok didn't begin live streaming until this year 2019 while Facebook was doing live streaming as early as April 2016.
Twitch is probably the most famous live streaming service, where users get money for their streams. And it's far more popular for Live Streaming than YouTube, especially amongst gamers.
But this is all tech that is several years old. Nothing new being birthed yet. I mean heck, there are movies and TV shows about the impact of Social Media live streaming on society.
