Have a separate mode for when you want to edit your home. That way
you're less likely to accidentally change something while you're
interacting with objects.
With the Rift, seeing is believing. I don't think that hype will be an
issue, especially if the first consumer version improves upon the DK2
significantly in resolution, latency and comfort. If Oculus releases a

If I had to guess... they will announce the release date at the
September 2015 Oculus Connect developer's conference, and the release
date will be November 2015, giving lots of time for people to pick it up
for Christmas. Also, I wouldn't be surprise...
Even with the low res dev kit, it would be pretty cool to watch a movie
with a friend who is half way across the world. I have a feeling that
what is going to make this a really cool application is the social
aspect more than than the visual fidelity...
