Yep and if it is a component issue then they will have a lot of warranty replacements to deal with. I'm hoping they are looking at all the logs sent to them and figuring out commonalities between PCs with the same issue.
I use the on-board Rift S audio since day one. Even with the sound cranked up. So far my only issue is that I see random white static every 30 min or so.
Maybe but I still think it is a firmware/software issue. I think they are sending cables out to people that keep pushing back because they don't know what else to do. I'll continue thinking this until they officially make a statement on thi…
They already stated in another post that this current firmware they are about to release will not fix the static flashes. It's probably on their short list of things to do but they better hurry.
I know many of us like to defend Oculus because we are VR fans but you can't fault someone for returning this because a big issue like white static flashes or the many other things people are dealing with the S. My snow flashes happen like once ever…
It's actually more likely that the headset is not processing the sound properly when both are plugged in. They can probably update that so it recognizes two plugged in. Amazing this got through testing!
The white pixel flash is different on my Quest. The Quest will have like a string of horizontal static going across for a split second every once and a while. The S has one full frame of static flash for a split second every 20-30 min.
I submitted a ticket with a log file for this issue. We'll see what they say. Apparently the new firmware that just came out does not fix the random static flash. :(
Well I hope they act quickly because by the looks of it a lot of people will be returning their headset because they feel it is a hardware issue. I really hope it can be fixed with an update. Return windows are closing in! :o
Mine does this. I think there is something preventing it from charging in software. Most likely it is thermal throttling but may have other precautions baked in. I find that it charges longer when it is lower in the battery percentage.
Update: So I used a USB extension cable to have the HMD USB plug into the front of my computer (also USB 3.0) and that seems to have fixed it. Looks like the sound goes though the USB plug on the HMD. My MOBO must have some interference regarding so…
This exact same thing is happening to me. Here is my situation:
I am constantly getting a crackle or popping sound when I have the HMD on. It is not game/video specific. I only hear it when there is sound being played and it is very sporadic. When …
