  • From the oculus app on the phone: Enable developer mode. From inside the Quest: Press oculus button on the controller. Goto options. Click show all. Click developer. Toggle guardian mode on/off

  • A straightforward way of hiding the head-mesh is to locate the head-bone and scale that to 0,0,0. Then if you need to show the head again, say if you are switching to a 3rd person view, just scale it back to it's original size. Just store the scale …
  • It has happened to me aswell on some occasions. A couple of things to try... 1) Check if your application runs at a stable 75fps. 2) Try connecting the camera to another USB port. 3) Although the DK2 works without the included power adapter, try …

  • I needed something similar for my game project. The problem is that the head-bone axis may not be aligned properly with the ovr tracker/camera object, which in my case resulted in completely wrong rotations. Attach the script to the dog's head-bo…
  • I couldn't get the good'ol OVRDevice.ResetOrientation() to work at all with the latest 0.4.4 SDK. After some digging around in the sdk, I found this: OVRManager.display.RecenterPose(); Works for me. Hope it helps.
  • Fantastic demo! As a developer Im inspired and as a gamer Im having lots of fun playing it The mix of old-school vector style graphics and the Oculus RIft is a match made in VR heaven.
  • Palmer, not really. Just extremely driven and enthusiastic, which is just as good. Carmack on the other end, definitely a genius.
  • Try building your app instead of running it inside the editor.
  • Early STEM KS backer here. Im working on a game for the Rift that requires the use of the STEM or the Hydra controllers. Looking forward to receive the STEM so I can integrate the SDK into my game.

  • Im not sure if there is a function to check if DK1 or 2 (Id like to know also). Shouldn't be necessary to make 2 version. I got both DK's, and projects build with SDK 0.4.2 does work with both.
  • I tried your demo and get lots of judder. FPS is about 38 as reported by the Oculus stats screen. The low fps is the cause of your judder. I've tried forcing dx11, but that didn't help. Try optimizing somehow your project and try again.
  • Try switching your Unity project to DX11 in the player settings, then make a build to test if the judder is gone. For me that removes the judder most of the time when running my app in direct-to-rift mode, but not always.
  • @aerosteak Yes you are right about the very slow player speed. There is something odd going on when looking down and trying to move, the speed is decreased significantly. But if you keep your head level, it should move normally. Ill have it fixed f…
  • This looks really cool! Thanks for sharing
  • @aerosteak Thanks for the generous offer. I do actually need a remix of the old tunes. Was thinking about recording something myself on my electric guitar, but that is probably not going to happen. Ill PM you soon about it Btw, did the game wor…
  • Are we going to see curved display technology being utilized in future Oculus HMD's?
  • I agree with all of that and more. I find myself letting my brand new DK2 collect dust and going back to the DK1 for development purposes (which is crazy!). Guess I'm glad I didn't sell my DK1 afterall. Also I would add this to your list of annoy…

  • Testing from the Unity editor it's a mess. So I always test my Unity stuff with builds, which seems to work most of the time in direct-to-rift mode. Sometimes the build wont start, I just get a black screen like you described. Try re-running your bu…
