• Since the latest development is that they force the use of a Facebook account on you, I wouldn't get my hopes up for this. Since offline install = no Facebook tracking and profiling = no profit.
• Yups, another company that went down the drain after being purchased by another... now it's official. Anyway the Rift CV1 lasted me almost 4,5 years now, so no complaints there. I had hoped to see another high end contender from Oculus Facebook, so…
• My Rift CV1 updated here to v19 without problems fortunately! There was a notice of updating drivers too, and that went without a problem as well. Since there's no choice / Oculus is forcing us to update to the latest version, I'm always a bit tense…
• Rift CV1 or Rift S? This seems like a consequence of the inside out tracking system. The controllers may be too close to each other so they start blocking / overlap each other?
•
To answer your question: no I do not find the graphics WOW in the VR headset. Was I expecting it after reading all the reviews: that's a no either. Do I find it WOW overall: hell yes! I can never go back to flat screen with cockpit games. A…
• @comatrix I understand your frustration or rather 'deception' as you call it. But I think that your (very) high expectation of the product plays a part in that. Let me try to visualize it with a simple chart: Person A's expectation: ---------------…
• I think this is clearly an issue of expectations. Set them (too) high and you will be disappointed, set them low (enough) and you will be (very) happy. @comatrix Personally I think your expectations were just (too) high, whereas the majority that re…
• @comatrix I'm sorry to hear that the first experience into VR was not what you expected. But then, we don't know what your expectations were. For example I read a lot on forums etc. about people wanting to play <insert triple AAA title here - l…
• Nice find @Shooter80 ! If the internals work at USB 2 regardless, why then even advertise or put a warning about the connection speed indeed? And why state in the software that's recommended to plug it into an USB 3 port. Strange decision making at…
• Yes I did report this, with the send feedback function and several times / in different threads here on the forum. The only feedback I got was a question or remark that boils down to: * are you sure you've plugged it in an USB 3 port? * no we didn…
• Nope, headset is plugged in directly into the USB card. 2 sensors (1 USB 3 and 1 USB 2) are using extender cables. The USB 2 is by design, per Oculus recommendation to not run all 3 sensors on USB 3.
• Not sure this will help, but here are my screenshots for reference. Just for the sake of it, also a screenshot where you can see the 2 sensors are correctly detected as USB 3.
• Again, @[email protected] thank you for taking the time to reply. When I plug my 2 out of 3 sensors into the same USB port it correctly identifies it as an USB 3 port in the Oculus control panel (text USB 3 + green dot). Also the one sensor…
• Thank you for you for your reaction @ShowbizDonkey. Like you said before, nothing was changed in the usb detection in v17 as far as you know, except the new visual warning. But, could it be that the detection was changed several versions before that…
• It almost seems like Facebook took a page out the playbook of Apple with what's it called... oh yeah planned obsolescence.
• I think streaming video (like Netflix) is fundamentally different than 'streaming' live video data from VR. With Netflix the content is pre-compressed, because it is already known and latency is no issue, because it doesn't need to react in…
• The prime candidate for me right now is the Valve Index. I really hope that tethered solution will still be a choice, because I don't think untethered will get there just yet in the next 5 years. At least from my point of view / for my use …
• All signs are saying jump ship to me. I doubt there will ever be a CV2 and in the unlikely event there ever will be, I doubt we could re-use the old sensors, as opposed to the Index. Bah, maybe I should have chosen the original Vive over the CV1 af…
• Thank you for your reply and clarification, but excuse my French when I say that's a load of bullcrap... I've been using the CV1 for 4 years now, right at the start with the recommended Inateck card, because my mainboard back then didn't h…
• StarTech 4 port/4 controller sata powered usb3.0 pcie card This solved it for me too, since I got fed up with the issue, although I was also using one of the recommended USB3-controller cards (The Inateck KTU3FR-4P one). Mind you, the StarTech PEXU…
• I got fed up waiting for updates from the side of Oculus and bought the other USB3 controller card originally recommended by Oculus: the one from Startech with 4 ports, each port being driven by its own controller, the PEXUSB3S44V. I remember this o…
• I'm on the original Rift (CV1). Yes, it just happened to me after the update to v17, while nothing else changed at the time (no new drivers, no new windows update, no new hardware).
• I have the same Inateck card (from way back). They used to advise installing the Inateck / Frescologic drivers, but now (on the website of Fresco Logic) they recommend to just use the builtin Windows 10 drivers. That's how I've been using the card f…
• Yes, it's one of the new 'features' of the v17 release. (Rift CV1 user myself, has been working fine for almost 4 years, nothing changed on my end). Please report this issue with the desktop software feedback function. Hopefully the more reports th…
• I don't see why using VR for driving / flight simulations would be not an intended purpose!? Actually it's my primary usage. I'm also using it on a consumer motion platform, but one that doesn't have that much movement to cause a problem with tracki…
• For people having the same issues, please report this to Oculus via the desktop software. Hopefully the more reports they get, the more resources they will focus on fixing this 'USB 3 gets recognized as USB 2' bug.
• CV1 user here. Also the same thing with the USB2 warning after the v17 update, which is very annoying, since nothing has changed on my side (been working for 4 years as it is now). They definitely screwed something up. I'm glad I can still play / t…
• Please enlighten us then ;)
• Crap, in the end I received the update too. Oculus App Version 17.0.0.183.462 (17.0.0.183.462). Et voila: Time to file a report and take another look at the Index.
• For me it's 4 years working with no noticeable problems with an Inateck (the recommended one) card. I haven't turned on my Oculus PC yet since Saturday and now I'm very hesitant to do so after reading these messages... I do know one thing…
