To be honest, I really only use it with Elite: Dangerous.
I have high hopes on Squadron 42, the single player campaign of Star Citizen, and Mechwarrior 5, though.
However, in Elite it's an awesome experience and I think it adds a lot to immersion. …
I guess a lot of people, if not most, play this with a HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) setup.
Here you can find the Xbox One default controller layout for Elite (and also suggestions for custom bindings):
I don't own this game so I don't know for sure, but my guess would be that the in game slider can actually go below 1.0
That means that "all the way to the left" could be something like 0.7, which would match your observed 1.74 when you se…
The only thing you can do with the Rift and your Xbox combined is to stream games from Xbox to PC and then play them on a big screen in VR.
But a PC is absolutely necessary. Without one you cannot use the Rift.
I just read about a new update available now. According to the developer it is called Atlas-Update and will be the final update for Lone Echo. It introduces some new features for high end CPUs. For more details, see the dev's blog: https://medium.co…
When you reinstalled the drivers, did you check the box to perform a clean new installation? If you don't check this, all your settings will be kept/restored after the installation.
If your GTX 1060 has several HDMI ports, try the others, too!
I don't think that it's unusual that the HDMI isn't detected any longer when the USB connection fails. Since the headset is powered over USB, it is as if you would plug in a non-powered monitor, which would also not be recognized by your computer.
By the way, Sparc is now 50 % off on Steam. The Steam version is compatible with Oculus Rift.
However, I admit it's a rather high price just for the possibility to invite your friend, given the fact that you actually already own the game.
In my exp…
I just started playing Sparc yesterday. It's really fun and can get quite intense.
It's always 1 vs 1. So, if want the attendants to be able to team up or play cooperatively, this is not what you're looking for.
Still, highly recommended :)
Yeah, in the Fallout case I also have the impression that it was all about how to get the VR edition out with as minimal effort as possible.
However, wouldn't it be possible to use something similar to ragdoll physics, so that they wouldn't have to…
Hmm, I think what you mean is aliasing.
What you can do against it are techniques called anti-aliasing.
One of the most efficient but very costly techniques is supersampling.
There are also others that are not so hardware-hungry like MSAA or FXAA. U…
First thing that comes to my mind:
Are your drivers up to date?
When you try to run the Oculus setup, it checks if all the components are connected. What does it show in your case? Headset USB connected and HDMI unplugged? Or vice versa?
Did you try…
The usual start of every master's thesis in any field of science is to do a literature research. If you don't know where to start, your professor/supervisor should help you.
After reading some publications in the field, one usually gets a few ideas…
No, the two versions are separate purchases. But you can play it through Steam with your Rift. It uses the Oculus runtime then.
At least that's what Bernd Lehan told me, he's one of the devs of the X series.
Maybe you have to bind a key to the function first. It's in the settings and should be called "Reset HMD Orientation", or something like that. Look for it in the misc section.
I use the spacebar for it... can't miss that even with the Rift…
Once you've installed your Rift and Touch, you can search for the games in the Oculus client. The games should then be downloadable free of charge.
Note, that this is only possible once you've setup everything because the software checks if you real…
This is the one from "VR Cover", right? (see https://vrcover.com/ )
I also upgraded from the stock faceplate to a VR cover and it's really worth the money.
P.S. I'm not working for VR cover and I don't get paid by them. I…
