Android Native Development Workflow for Gear VR

Hey guys, I'm a little confused about the native dev environment for gear vr.

I'm trying to setup a development workflow for Gear VR development on Windows using Native Apps (no Unity). I've read through the documents on setting up the environment, but it seems outdated.
The documentation refers to Eclipse, but can I use the Android Studio instead?
I've created a new project using the VRTemplate, but where do I go from here?

I see that there are Visual Studio Solution files in the sample projects, but how does that work? Do I use Visual Studio together with Android Studio? How does the compilation workflow work?

What's the setup the guys from Oculus is using?

Edit:
Didn't see this thread before I posted.

For some reason I missed this document: Native_SDK_Overview.pdf
Which answered most of my questions.

Looks like Oculus uses VisualGDB to compile this project. I've successfully compiled the project using VisualGDB with some modifications to the sln where Oculus has the Android NDK path hardcoded.

Good we need more native apps for Gear VR and with that less overheating as we get with unity apps.
