The Great APK Bundle

Howdy!

Downloading the individual APK's is a special form of Hell, so we're 80% complete in downloading them all and releasing them in one combined file. The benefits of this are:
  • You get to keep your precious time and use it play VR Jam Games.
  • Smaller titles have very little shot for the community vote because they won't get the coverage and downloads. This levels the playing field by making them discoverable.
  • The final APK is stamped in time, getting around this issue.

But before we released this in the wild, I want to be sure this is cool with devs and Oculus. Not trying to skirt the system, but make it more Democratic, easy, and encourage real conversation.

Edit: No objections, so here are the torrent files! Categories now for PC and OS X due to unarchiving issues:
DOWNLOAD

One file has all APKs (excluding four listed below) at 27GBs. For those looking for immediate action we divided smaller sets by file size.
Set 1 – 238 APKs less than 100MBs. Zipped at 10.75GB.
Set 2 – 52 APKs from 100MBs to 300MBs. Zipped at 7.49GB.
Set 3 – 15 APKs from 300MBs to 1.5GB. Zipped at 8.77GB.

For the full list of Oculus Mobile VR Jam 2015 titles please see the below, powered by Kent Bye's List from Voices of VR:

Good idea! What metadata will be released with each apk? (url to challengepost?)

    Thanks! :)

I think the VRJamCheck tool by Plan 8 using Kent Bye's spreadsheet would be far more accurate than anything we could craft. We could put a simple readme referencing it maybe?

We've downloaded all and have confirmed all but four will be in the APK Bundle. This will be going live today.

The four below cannot be downloaded for the following reasons:

    http://vrjam.challengepost.com/submissi ... theatre-vr
Attempts to download but get "Failed - server problem" from Amazon S3. This is a permission issue on the file in S3.

    http://vrjam.challengepost.com/submissi ... 6-sakurami
Provided link takes you to all Japanese website with no APK for download on this page.

    http://vrjam.challengepost.com/submissi ... al-vr-film
Provided link just gives you photos and video; no apk.

    http://vrjam.challengepost.com/submissi ... t-hypnosvr
Provided link shows only video; no apk.

Hey guys! Just so you know, for some reason there are 2 Phaseshift APK's floating around out there and one of them is broken.

For some reason this site has the right one:
    http://challengepost.com/software/phaseshift-hjmdp

And this one is still wrong:
    http://vrjam.challengepost.com/submissi ... phaseshift

Thanks for doing this! it would also be great to have a collection of DK2 builds somewhere.

Seems the only torrent tracker working right now is udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80, can by any chance a http tracker like http://tracker.trackerfix.com/announce be included aswell, as udp dont seem to work for me or would that be a complete new upload?

Or maybe i will try if the Mega download works later.

Unfortunately it appears that this would require uploading new torrent. It may be best to wait for the MEGA downloads...sorry.

Hmm, the only thought I have is that your unarchiving utility may be having issues due to the large file size, possibly corrupting them or not fully completing extraction. I just tested on this end and was able to extract without issue. They are being shared from OS X, but that shouldn't cause any issues like this.

I am using winrar to extract them, each time I go to extract the large zip,it gives a corrupt file message twice, once at the start and once at the end of the extraction and both times the final result is a folder 6.29 gb in size, this would indicate that the original zip file is corrupt, but if you can extract them ok,then I am at a lost.
I have just tried winzip also to extract and again it says the file is corrupt.

I used BitTorrent to download them, it probably corrupts the files when downloading, but if that was the case then you would think that the final extraction would be different size folders.

I have not used torrents in years,so I downloaded BitTorrent especially to get these, can anyone suggest a different client that works with these files ?
How long until the Mega uploads will be ready ?

Hmm, it definitely looks like something is happening because the final file size unzipped should be over 30GBs. Sorry, I'm not great with torrents either so I don't know for sure. We're using uTorrent on our end.

First MEGA will hit tonight which is one smaller set. We held to seed as much as possible to others. Others will go live tomorrow.

I'm getting the same issue with all of the torrents as well. I have tried 7-zip, WinRAR, and the built-in zip utility in Windows 8. 7-zip says that many of the files in the archives are an "unsupported compression method", however some of the APKs actually do extract successfully. I can't find any logic behind which ones extract successfully and which ones don't, but relatively few of them are successful. If the zip archives were truly corrupted, I would expect it to not be able to extract anything at all.

So I'm not really sure what's going on either. All I can figure is that it has something to do with the way the archives were compressed.

zip is corrupt (the entire set one..). i'm on windows, so not sure if this is a windows thing, but it's def how you compressed. we'll see once you start posting the mega links I guess.

    Thanks anyway.

    Well, damn.

They were compressed on OS X with the built-in system compression. This archive approach works in transferring content to Windows for anything below a GB, but wondering if something is incompatible between the two once we hit larger file sizes.

Sorry for any frustration. Genuinely trying to make this whole process a bit easier.

Added in the first MEGA link to give a go. If that has an issue than may need to start over, recompress on PC, and reupload.

I was able to extract 304 apk files from the torrent zip. I used the native zip tool from OSX.

Seeding now, have shared over 125GB so far...

The Mega file is also corrupt for Windows users, can you just put them in a folder without zipping them and upload or seed the folder ? ?

Sure, we will upload new torrents with unzipped folders asap. These will just focus on the smaller sets.

All MEGA files are now live. Noting that these are best used on OS X and possibly Linux.

Just wanted to say, "thank you." Downloaded on PC, transferred to and extracted on Mac, unzip'd fine. I had given up on downloading each entry individually, due to time. Really helpful, I sincerely appreciate your effort and time.

I can confirm that the file (whole set) is corrupt on windows. Tried windows explorer,7zip, winrar and winzip. Bummer.

A torrent with all the APK archives separate sounds good. That way, people can also download them selectively if they want.

Thanks for uploading it again for us, much appreciated :)

Edit: Argh it seems that even tho Mega lets me select a destination where to save the download, it first downloads the complete file to the C:/ drive which means i need atleast 10GB of free storage there, which i dont have, just my luck today ;)
