Step 1: Purchase a DK2.
Step 2: Download and install the latest Oculus Runtime for your operating system.
The Oculus Runtime should be installed by everyone to use the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Developers and end-users should install the Runtime package. The Runtime installs the device drivers and system services required to use the Oculus HMD.
Step 3: Download the latest Oculus SDK for your operating system.
The Oculus Software Development Kit (SDK) is intended to be used by game developers. The SDK includes software to be incorporated into games to support the Oculus HMD.
Step 4: Create an account for the Oculus Developer Center.
While not strictly necessary, having an account for the Oculus Developer Center allows you to ask questions and post answers in our community answers area, to contribute to our forums and to use the online tools we provide developers. The developer center is a rich resource filled with documentation and samples and we'd love for you to contribute to this growing community.
