Stereoscopic stills in 360Photos

Dear all

I am loving the Gear VR and Oculus. In the 360Photos app there are quite a few stereoscopic illustrations in the 3D Category. My question is, how do I make similar images for viewing in 360Photos?

I use 3DS Max to create scenes, then render them in Vray using a stereoscopic camera set to spherical and 360 degrees. This produces a long panorama, with the left-eye image on the left and vice versa. I then cut these into two images in Photoshop, label the two files File_L.jpg and File_R.jpg. Then I am able to view them in the app PS Viewer 3 on my phone. They look great - very 3D. You can see a test scene here (left then right image):

But the app is a pain. How do I format my images so that the Oculus 360Photos app can display them in stereo?

A side note: people have said that the only way to render true stereo images is to use use two cameras and to rotate them about the point joining them, then render the scene in vertical strips all around and stitch them together to create stereo panoramas. But using the Max/Vray technique above I find that the scenes I create, when viewed in PS Viewer 3, look very 3D, in every direction. There is always parallax; the illusion does not break when I change viewing angle.

Thanks for reading.
