WebVR: requestPresent fails in standard demo - how to reset the device?

I'm developing a VR-App with three.js (v107). Everything works fine until I tried to use WebSockets (socket.io). Now, the browser is broken, even standard demos (https://facebook.github.io/react-360/) do no allow to enter the VR-mode (requestPresent fails).

So far, only a factory reset helps. Are there other ways to reset the device or only the browser?
Firefox works, but is too slow.
