Hey everyone!

Really pleased to share with you our effort for the Jam, Private Eye. It's a mystery, whodunnit game.

Here's a trailer:

Have just finished writing up a blog post about the incredibly hectic development process, if you're interested you can read that here: http://privateeyevr.com/private-eye-cas ... oden-lady/

It's a little rough around the edges, definitely needs a little more work especially in terms of optimization (some painful loading times right now). We are looking to refine this into a full release so be great for any feedback 🙂

Controls:
Left Analog: Interact
Right Analog: Rotate Object/Diorama
A: Inspect/Action
B: Cancel
Y: Toggle Interrogate
X: Toggle Inventory
Right Shoulder: Squint
Start: Return to Diorama

I wanted to try this out, but wasn't able to install on Lollipop 5.0.1

Installed fine on my Snapdragon ICS Note 4, but neither of my Bluetooth controllers (Moga Pro and Nyko Playpad Pro) seem to work with it. I really should get one of the Samsung gamepads one of these days.

Only feedback I can offer from the little I saw is that I was uncomfortable being in complete darkness with only audio in the sequences on either end of the logo. I pulled the headset away from my face a bit until stuff came on screen. Maybe those are the long loads you referred to, but the audio lined up with them well so I thought it was by design.

I've been following development of the PC version, and from the trailer, this looks like a worthy addition to the world you've crafted. Excited to give it another shot in the future.

@dpid Sorry to hear buddy, have only tested on KitKat. Are you aware of any hoops I need to jump through to get working on Unity?

Setup Unity for the Samsung gamepad only, will def look into other popular pads in the next release and probably add a non-gamepad mode. Can't really image that being too much fun but think a little unfair for people without a gamepad to miss out.

The black intro was a design decision but I agree, there's just too much blackness. Think some credits or some small visual clue that everything is working ok is probably a good idea.

Thanks for following PE 🙂 The GearVR comp has been a real shot in the arm which I think I needed.

Read your post mortem and then went and downloaded the apk.

I agree that the long blackness is off putting and makes you think something went wrong.
I left the headset off till something appeared as well.

Then I realised that there was no interaction with the touchpad which is a shame as I don't have a controller.
I also noticed loads of black smear going on in the car, you can fix a lot of that in photoshop by tweaking all your textures and lightmaps to have a slight off black colour instead of complete black.

Looking forward to future versions.

P.S. we met at rezzed briefly when we were exhibiting Kaiju Panic

Ah, wish I'd thought of that.

Thanks for giving it a bash, sorry you didn't get much of an experience, think we will add a touchpad version as this should work quite nicely with the gesture control mechanism we are currently using. Helps to have a game with no walking around too, although we are debating changing that!

I have added a spinner to loading screens and it makes a ton of difference, the level of frustration is so much less having that feedback that something is going on, really is something integral that I overlooked.

Great shout with the photoshop fix, there is a lot of blackness in the game and the smearing is really off putting so definitely going to try the fix. Think a few shades less noir will be fine 🙂

Hopefully will be back in a few weeks with a new build with lots of fixes and touch control, cheers!
