Oculus locomotion example in Unity: teleporting in wrong direction

I built the Unity Oculus SDK example scenes in a brand new Unity project. In the locomotion example I experience on the Quest that, while I point at a point forward, i get teleported to a point exactly behind me. As if the position is mirrored with myself as the mirror point. 
What is going on? 
Why does thee example not work properly? 
I did set Oculus Quest as my device.
