These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of November 1st, 2021.

Guardian

  • With this release we’re introducing Space Sense to Guardian. Space Sense allows you to see things like people and pets entering your Play Space when using Roomscale Guardian. To enable Space Sense, navigate your Settings > Experimental features. Learn more about Guardian and Space Sense.
    • Please note this feature is only available on Quest 2 headsets.
    • Space Sense is not available for Stationary Guardian.
  • In addition to Space Sense, we’re currently testing additional guardian features as part of this release. Keep in mind that these features are still in development and won’t be seen by all users.
  • We’ve improved notifications when you enter a low-light situation and are at risk of losing tracking.

Horizon Home

  • We’re introducing a new personal workspace environment in Horizon Home today, so you can trade out that snowy mountain lodge for something a bit more professional if you’re sitting down to get some work done.

2D Apps for Multitasking

  • We’re introducing 2D apps to the Oculus Store. The first apps available in the Store are Facebook, Instagram, Smartsheet, and Spike. More apps will follow soon. Developers can get started building and testing PWAs today and we’ll share more about when you can submit to App Lab soon.
  • 2D apps take advantage of Quest’s powerful multitasking features. You can turn on the latest multitasking features by enabling “Multitasking” in the Experimental section of the Settings app.

Android Phone Notifications

Standby Battery Life

  • We’ve adjusted battery parameters to increase the standby life on Quest and Quest 2 headsets.

Link and Air Link

  • We’ve enabled secure pairing for Air Link to enhance security and improve your experience for Air Link. Users who have V34 on both Quest and PC will experience a new and improved pairing flow for launching into Air Link.
  • For best performance on Link and Air Link, please use Windows 10. Windows 11 is not yet supported with our Oculus PC software.

Voice Commands

  • You can now do more with Voice Commands. With this release, you can now ask about the weather, enable or disable the Oculus Move tracker during your next workout, and other general questions. You can also use Voice Commands to control your media and open your settings. Learn more about supported Voice Commands.
  • Example commands include:
    • Weather: “What’s the weather like today?”, “What’s the weather for tomorrow?”
    • Media Control: “Pause”, “Resume”, “Next”, “Go back”
    • Oculus Move: “Show activity tracker”, “Hide calorie tracker”
    • General Questions: “What is ten to the power of forty three?”, “What is 20 Celsius in Fahrenheit?”, “How many calories in three eggs?”

Public Test Channel (PTC)

  • Quest Public Test Channel (PTC) is an early access program for Oculus Quest software releases. By signing up, you can get early access to the unreleased software version ahead of the public release.
  • See here to learn more about how to sign up for PTC.

So will key features like voice commands ever be available to anyone outside the US? It's hard to take all the Connect waffle about diversity and inclusiveness seriously when non-Americans continue to be treated as second-class citizens by Oculus.

We had this feature on Rift years ago (before it was summarily removed without explanation) and it was really useful. It's now been months since it launched on Quest in the US and it's still unavailable anywhere else (including in countries like the UK, Australia or New Zealand which speak the same language). Can we get an update on when it will be available please?

And whilst you're at it, will anyone outside the US ever get the ability to use Hulu or Movies Anywhere or to buy or rent 3D movies, or even to access Supernatural or Horizon Worlds? The grandiose visions of building the metaverse look pretty silly when you currently lock out most of the planet.

You're putting too much crap onto the Quest which will no doubt will make it slower, so you can sell a Quest 3 and on top of that you keep ignoring the BIG ISSUES we Windows 11 users have with Link NOT WORKING.

I guess my choice as customer is to abandon this platform and look for something more PC oriented.

You still have the best VR helmet possible from Oculus.  I have a Quest 2 and I'm still using Rift S for Beatsaber as Quest 2 is absolute crap in the "really fast" response time for Expert+ songs.

Sorry but NO.  We were able to replicate this issue with a fix that works 100% of the time. Just having the console opened will fix ALL the issues. It should be INCREIDIBLE SIMPLE to implement a fix WHILE you work on your "certifications"

It's not the game, it's the bug with Oculus Link and the software.  Just use the diag software and turn the console visible all the time and you will see a perfectly fluid game again, exactly as Lone Echo. Trust me, it's not the game, it's the software.

Ignore the recommended values.  I have a 3950X with an RTX3080 and I'm happy to say that I can do 105% above native resolution with 90hz and I am yet to find a game that renders below 90fps. I can even play Lone Echo II maxed out,  you have a Ti so you can go as further as 107% with 90hz and you will still be able to play everything.

The recommended values are s.h.i.t.

On my side it told me that I could go on max 80% of native resolution at 72hz,  I've cranked it up to 105% at 90hz and I can play everything maxed out, never had a single framerate cut (of course, having the console opened all the time).

Quick settings/ app hiding, add that to the roster sometime!

Found a very interesting fact about AirLink ...

After the "secure pairing" it is not necessary to activate AirLink in the beta area of the desktop app.

Link is available immediately after starting the Oculus service (shortly before the app is visible).

Very nice!

what a PITA having to now be at the PC to verify every time I re-use airlink

At least provide something, I feel like those having problems installing drivers would much rather deal with lag than having to wait to use their headset because the program that supplies drivers constantly fails. I just bought a used Rift S and am unable to use it because it needs drivers to run. That means no SteamVR, no OculusVR. infact all I have is a device that has a mic and headset built into it. Windows 11 should not have changed that much, Any update to the program, or even an update as to why this is taking such a long time to develop a fix for W11 would be a god send. I really hope you see this. I mean no disrespect. But It needed to be said.

Install the current software on top of Windows 11.  It should work just fine.  The Rift S does not have the latency and rendering issues that Airlink/Link is having with the Quest2 that needs terminal opened all the time.  The Rift S work just fine.  I know because I have both, Rift S and Quest 2 both running under Windows 11.

They are giving all the wrong messages to the community, I just can't believe it.  Software is bugged for Airlink/Link but it does NOT affect Rift S currently.

But it doesn't I had to tamper with the driver executable in order to get it installed and now I'm not sure if it's the headset or my computer. I feel cheated because this was supposed to be an easy thing and now I'm not sure if it's drivers or the headset. It states the headset isn't plugged into a display port when it clearly is. And the 50% of the time when it does detect its plugged in The sensors don't work during device setup.
