Hi guys, this is probably already extensively covered, (I couldn't find anything in my search,) but instead of using 'average' HRTF profiles for spatial audio, couldn't one calibrate a specific profile by having a routine of using controllers to locate where a sound appears to be in relation to the user?
For example, a sound is played a foot above the user's head, the user then holds their controller at the location they perceive the sound to be (in relation to the headset) and press a button, modify and repeat to build a spatial map.
I only signed up here to share this in case it's helpful; I don't know much about any of this stuff but always dreamed about accurate 3d spatial audio.
