Fun things to try in TF2

At first I didn't think the TF2 integration was compelling, but its actually great for demos and experiments. Launch a map through the console and set sv_cheats 1.

1) Set no_clip (toggles) and fly like superman. Combine with vr_moveaim_mode to test control schemes (set 1-7).
2) Try some custom maps. tc_meridian_b2 was a cool medieval castle, ctf_spacebase_b1a has an interesting outer space theme, ctf_premuda_b1b has rain, etc. List your favorites in this thread! http://www.tf2maps.net/
3) Check out third person mode by setting thirdperson or other variations at http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/List_ ... e_commands. Combine this with vr_moveaim_mode 1 to see your avatar face on.
4) Try medieval mode tf_medieval

TF2 should be great for super fast prototyping.

See http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/List_ ... e_commands for more ideas

Any jump map should be great vertigo-inducing fun -- jump_pagoda, jump_adventure, etc. I don't know if RJing is really feasible in the rift, might have to enjoy them as a stickyjumping demoman.

thanks for sharing these ideas.

i just dove in and had some fun flying around. wish noclip mode was a little slower, definitely moves far too fast.

i enjoyed raining bullets as heavy from on top of a checkpoint... camping midair is superbly fun.

Play as demo, drop a remote trigger grenade, stand on it. Make sure you stand up in real life as well. Look down, pull the trigger and jump in real life at the same time. When I did this my brain was so convinced I actually got blasted into the air that I fell flat on my ass in real life, hilarious 😄 (just make sure you don't do it around any pointy objects that might impale your nether regions upon landing)

Another cool map is ctf_aerospace. Cool to watch the planes zoom by.

I've built up my VR tolerance enough to try TF2 surfing (maps start with surf_). Pretty wild.

This is awesome lol. I'll have to try this! (and this is the part where Oculus gets nervous and posts a disclaimer that they are not responsible for damage caused by ill-advised stunts we are bound to come up with...)

TF2 is crashing when I run it. I see the Valve logo, etc. But then it exits to desktop. 😛

I think TF2 with the rift is very compelling and is a serious advantage. I'm playing better than I ever have before.

I love playing TF2 on my Rift!

It's good to know VR hasn't destroyed my score!

By the way, I play with the Mouse/Keyboard so I've had a lot of fun! For some reason, I've never come close to getting motion-sick with the rift.

Get that Oculus TF2 server online!

Is there a command to turn off the player following when you die?
