Tyriel Wood gives a great intro to the Resident Evil 2 Remake using the Index:
The dynamic lighting and shadows seem even better than in Alyx - and textures look incredibly detailed. But need to see it in VR, it's not really possible to judge texture quality in a 2D video.
Seems like reviewers on well-known gaming-oriented websites have been blown away by this VR remake - more info here:

Might need a very beefy rig to run this remake though. It's note done yet, but hopefully will be soon.

Seems that the dude making the mods will release the Resident Evil 2 and 3 mods - well, later today 😃
I guess these are the mods I'm looking forward to the most - next year 😉

Note that the new remake editions of Resident Evil 2 and 3 are now on sale on Steam until January 5 2022 - these are the versions meant for the new VR mods - of course no one wants to play the original now garbage versions from 1998 and 1999, but these new remake editions look awesome - and take up 26GB and 45GB of drive space respectively:
https://store.steampowered.com/sub/597332/
So these games are extremely far ahead of the ultra-low-end Resident Evil 4 game, which has not been similarly enhanced. Some shots from the 45GB PC version of Resident Evil 3:

Btw, link to the mod files - but I don't think the files are ready yet for primetime... Maybe in a few hours or days:

Seems it's out and working - I've bought both RE2 and RE3 and will test RE2 later:

One dude just wrote that graphics look better than Alyx - and another wrote:
"Been playing for 3 hours straight the zombies are so real and the gore so brutal got like 2 jump scares havent had those in a loong time, and the graphics are photorealistc, takes some time to get used to the mapings but once you get used its amazing" (from Index Reddit)

I can confirm that these games are AWESOME in VR. Nearly pooed my pants a few times lol
Tried RE2 (full motion controls) and RE7 (gamepad only atm) and they're both pretty incredible. And free to play too unlike the Luke Ross mods where you're forced to subscribe to his Patreon thingummybob. Think GTA V VR Mod is still free though.
I managed to find a bug that kicked me from Air-Link back to the Quest 2 Home environment a couple of times but no idea what caused it. Since switching to Virtual Desktop I haven't experienced the problem.
Also haven't worked out how to fight the zombies off after you get grabbed either so I've ended up dying A LOT lol

The game is running quite well - most often I get 90 fps using Index res 200% (set in SteamVR, in-game held at 100% as these two settings will multiply) and highest in-game graphics settings (DX12 renderer selected). Took a few shots - this is by far the most impressive Resident Evil graphics I've ever seen in VR:
Click to enlarge - all shots are taken in-game, no shot is from a prerendered cutscene or the like
Floor textures - check out the high-res footprints in the blood
That's me - standing in the rain - Lone Echo 2 has better characters, but not many more VR games spring to mind - the trick is this isn't really a VR game, even if it now works that way 😉
Great dynamic shadows - like any proper Resident Evil game with zombies should have
This dude does not look well, I hope he has hasn't been .... bitten ... in the neck 😬
I'm not complaining about the texture quality 🤗
Hair is kinda awesome - at least for a game in VR
Just to show some light and shadows - see how the wire to the lamp is reflected on the ceiling?
More light and shadow - and fog is emanating from the fans - it looks awesome. See how the colored bottles cast shadows on the wall?
A zombie - and these npcs have the most awesome quality - look quite life-like, which increases how scary they look - and this greatly fuels VR immersion
More awesome zombies
- and another one - they don't stand still and want to bite me - not easy taking shots 😉
A surprise party, how ... nice ... (And I'm all out of ammo)
Got some help 🙂
This was a very dark image, tried to add some light, but she looks really beautiful in the game... Kinda Lara Croft quality? 🤔 😍
Nice textures and model details
Seems this new Covid19 variant is a bit more aggressive than usually - better keep of the streets... Fire and burning cars'n stuff look great in the game
Arriving at the Police Station - this is very early in the game, so really no spoiler. View distance is nice
More examples of shadows (see the ground), textures and weather effects like rain
Inside the station - great polygon count - you do need a fast rig for this game
Searching the station - ground is covered by transparent water, and the water effects look great
I think performance is very similar to Lone Echo 2 - at least when using the Index res 200% and highest in-game settings in both games (without 4xMSAA in Lone Echo 2). This isn't a perfect mod, those prone to nausea may feel it more in this game if playing in 3rd person perspective due to the camera controls. Controls are acceptable with Index and Knuckles, but take some time to master as the button mapping isn't exactly the same as using an XBox controller.
This mod is a great achievement, and will probably extend to Resident Evil 7 & 8 later - that is right now you can play 7 & 8 but only using an XBox controller, only 2 & 3 supports VR motion controllers.
Btw, for those needing help installing the game and more, here's a nice guide. The game also works in first person:

Well, this game is kinda beyond anything else right now - but it's also gruesome. Really gruesome, especially with the power of high-end gpus - I mean this is what you get:
This is a screenshot taken directly from the game - this is by far not a game for kids or teenagers, this is 18+
Some dudes easily make your skin crawl, lol:
I do think the opponents look even better than npcs in Alyx
Let's check out some more memorable faces - all shots taken directly in-game, no pre-rendered stuff - and check out this face, totally mind-blowing amazing in VR right?
Facial details on npc
- and she's simply beautiful 😍
Like in Lone Echo 2, you can see the tiny arteries in her eyes
The main character - the dude I'm playing - isn't looking bad either:
Check out the skin imperfections
The npcs are awesomely made - facial expressions clealy communicate pain - like this dude being eaten alive:
It did not end well - but even if we're adults in here, some pictures have a level of violence I better hide to some degree - but for those wanting to see the gore, do open the box 😉
- and I've already shown this dude:
- but there're so many more, lol:
The hair does look awesome:
This dude ended up killing me - I was busy taking shots 😁
Btw, settings: volumetric lighting is not working correctly - and some recommend disabling lens flares, bloom, ambient occlusion - like Tyler here, jump to 19:02:
Wood's recommended settings are:
I used Max for shadow quality
Screen Space Reflections remove all reflections in the water - these reflections do work, but contain some errors - I'm still not sure I want to keep them disabled
Not sure that Ambient Occlusion needs to be disabled - I've enabled mine to the max and think the game looks better that way - I could be experiencing some placebo effect 🤔 Lol...
I think Wood disabled Depth of Field and Film Noise to provide a more clear image - I do think these settings work fine in VR - but of course a matter of taste to enable or disable. Same with Bloom
It may be a matter of taste thought - this is with bloom and lens flares - check the lamp:
- and this is without bloom and lens flares:
It's not like bloom isn't working, but it may be oversaturated and too bright - but such light also creates a certain atmosphere. I kinda like the overbright lights 🙂
This is the station with some bloom - just to illustrate the special atmosphere with such oversaturated lights:
Objects look great too - like the radio here:
The radio looks good, the table cloth could be better 😉
Not sure that burger is ... fresh ... but textures and polygon count are great 😉
I've mentioned the dynamic shadows before - see the shadows from the camera here on the wall. Such shadows are extremely important for creating just slightly realistic dark scenes
The gun is nicely detailed, but hands could use better textures - but no big deal
The attention to details are great - even in a kind of bad way - like this dude having soiled himself probably when dying:
Thus in many way this truly is a disgusting game - with profound horror elements - like no other horror game you currently can enjoy in VR.
I'll end this photo show with some zombie close-ups 😎

Hmmm, the violence and the gore are surprisingly disturbing in this game - not even the movies were close to this level of gore. Not really sure this game is *cough!* healthy to play. I have some new shots I'm not even sure I could/should post in here - but I have a few less gruesome shots to share 🤗
For example, I met a nice and quiet lady the other night 😘 Sadly, even if she was really on to me, our relationship didn't work out well:
I even tried to calm her down with a present - it's my knife in her throat...
There was also this old dude ...
He didn't exactly look ... fresh ....
- and he ended up treating me kinda like ... spaghetti 😬
- yup, I did not survive this.
I might go back in later tonight - but this is kinda like swimming in a large pool with hungry white sharks - not exactly something to look forward to ... 🤔
