The game feels somewhat dated - like having begun its development some years ago (which it did in 2017, so no surprises there), and using the CV1 ss 2.0 I did experience some locations with 45 fps - using an oc'ed RTX 3090. Thus the game lacks optimization, but still was fun to play.

Turning off antialiasing did not improve fps nor affect image quality - but CV1 ss 2.0 is already 17 mill pixels per image. Textures are fine/nice/great, and dynamic lights and shadows look great too.

Controls are fine, but using the gun was cumbersome and required some practice.

I've only played the tutorial and cannot judge the gameplay, but so far I get the impression that this game needs oled to shine the most - I'll check the game with the Index later.

Quite strange, but something seems odd with the native Oculus driver support. As noted previously, in some locations I got 45 fps with CV1 ss 2.0 and the RTX 3090.

Now with the Index forcing res 200 % and adding a massive 4xMSAA the game is totally smooth in 90 Hz, and it even looks better, also due to the big fov. For now this game looks fine even with no oled. The performance is so much better using native Steam drivers and the Index that something must be wrong with how the devs implemented native Oculus drivers.

VRFocus wrote a short article about the game:

85% of more than 700 Steam ratings/reviews are positive - that's a very high average Steam rating.

The game is now also available in the Oculus Store - but as written, the Steam version supports native Oculus drivers:

Note that even if this may look like a zombie game from Indies with a low budget, this is not the case. This is a high-end PCVR game, and it takes up twice the amount of drive space as Lone Echo 2 😉 Thus Surv1v3 takes up a massive 42GB. I think the game was made primarily for oled hmds, but it does look good on lcd with high levels of super sampling. I'd highly recommend the game!
