The best VR games to reduce real-life stress (or just for relaxing)

Not sure what to call these games, but I'm thinking of games where you can just relax - and where you're like transported to some magical place where there're no time limits, no expectations for you to do anything and close to complete freedom. Oculus and Valve have problems defining these games' genre too - and the genre may be described like:

"Casual, Exploration, Music, Narrative, Puzzle"
"Adventure, Indie, Simulation"
"Adventure, Exploration, Simulation"
"Casual, Simulation"

Maybe something like "Casual, Exploration, Adventure, Simulation"...

I'm thinking of games like Garden of the Sea - currently 9/10 on Steam:

https://youtu.be/XkzhC8jDrdY

- and Fujii (9/10 on Steam and in Oculus Store):

https://youtu.be/-iZSQ7tynNA

- and maybe Luna (8/10 on Steam and 9/10 in the Oculus Store):

https://youtu.be/7WFFSekYmvU

Maybe also Vacation Simulator. I'm sure there're many more of such titles, and to me these are special for VR, because you're totally immersed in the world, which would be impossible in any attempt to make a 2D equivalent of such VR games.

Note that we're talking about games, not apps. There're many apps that may work against stress too, like Nature Treks and Guided Meditation VR, but again these aren't games, but apps (where you just walk around).

If you know of more games like the above, do mention them here, this thread is for those games!

Not actually a game, but Google earth VR is relaxing app to me. Seeing places that you havent seen in 30 years can really bring some good memories and in VR its just looks way better than in 24" screen.

More info here:

Hi all, Andreas from Fast Travel Games here. We will be releasing our upcoming VR game for Oculus Quest & Oculus Rift called The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets on November 14, so I thought I would give you some info about the game and also answer any questions you might have!

With The Curious Tale, we set aside a small & passionate team in our studio to create a VR game that is immediately accessible for anyone, regardless of age or gaming preferences. A game you can start playing simply by using your intuition. There is no cluttered settings menu, no time limits, no fail states. What it does offer is incredibly detailed miniature worlds in front of you, filled with colorful life and interactive elements, which you get to engage with and solve puzzles to find the missing pets. We are also telling a tale of memories and nostalgia, with your Grandfather’s voice guiding you back to your childhood adventures.

Here are some details!

  • The Curious Tale won the ‘Best Immersive Game’ award at the Raindance Film Festival in London in September, in tough competition with games like No Man’s Sky and Dr. Who: The Edge of Time!

  • It has music from world-renowned artist Wintergatan (the creators of Marble Machine) included.

  • It will cost $14.99/€14.99/£11.99 (might vary a little pending on country)

  • It offers cross-buy between the Rift & Quest version

  • It has subtitles localized for Spanish (main & LATAM versions), French, German, Russian, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean & Brazilian Portuguese.

You can WISHLIST the game on the Oculus Quest here and Oculus Rift here.

Let me know if you have any further questions, we cannot wait to see and hear what you all think on November 14!

Forgot to mention Fugl in this thread  - Fugl is amazing!

Fugl is also a true Oculus exclusive, it cannot - for now - be revived. It's not on Steam, thus only Rift and Rift-S are supported.

Not sure why, but I can't help thinking that this looks awesome  ❤️

Only problem may be that it seems the devs smoked something really bad and then got the same thought: "Let's launch our game the same day as Stormland".

Just tried the game - it's really amazing - my short review/impressions from the Store:

"While this game may not be long, the quality is top notch. The PCVR version has much higher texture resolution and post effects compared to the Quest, so this game feels like a true PCVR game in every way.
The polish is perfect and the game is magical, much like Luna. Graphics are amazing, maybe Stormland and Asgard's Wrath are better, but no other game looks more detailed than this gem. There really aren't any graphics settings, but I got solid 90 fps forcing super sampling 2.0 with a GTX 1080, and I'm blown away by the detailed graphics. Using CV1 you're very close to all in-game objects and this greatly minimizes the CV1 SDE - to a point where I thought it's not far from my Index. It probably has to do with eye accommodation, but SDE primarily gets pronounced using CV1 when looking at very distant objects - and you really don't do that in this game. In short, it's one of the visually most impressive games I've tried using the CV1.
Of course this isn't even close to action, it's rather a small puzzle game that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. You can play either sitting or standing, there're buttons for recentering. Controls are much like in Luna and Moss, you don't have fingers but it all works flawlessly. This is one VR gem that should be in everyone's library - it you like the genre."

I'm now 76% through this little gem of a game, like Zed this game provides a strong and often very emotional connection to old memories and childhood. Also I think it's designed to be played sitting, and it's quite relaxing. For those who have not tried this game, I'd highly recommend it. It Revives perfectly using Index res 200% too - I'm getting flawless 90 fps using a GTX 1080.

Did play it using CV1 ss 2.0 this evening, there's just something very special about the great old king of first generation. Kinda feels like an honor still to be able to experience the CV1 in all its glory.
