I've had the Rift for a while but now I'm thinking of creating a new account just for the Go. From what I can see, there doesn't seem to be any drawbacks in doing that (other than asking friends to add you twice) while there are a bunch of reasons to separate them.
3. Even though they treat Rift and Go apps separately when it comes to taking your money (see #1), they treat them as "one" when you want to use it. Want to use it to party with a friend? Tough luck; it won't work. You need to buy it a 3rd time on a new account. https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusGo/comments/8icy2b/question_about_anshar_online/
Let's be honest here. Most of us who bought the Go got it because we loved the Rift and want to share that experience with friends -- without needing to drag them to our homes. We paid Oculus to be their evangelists and give them free publicity -- which is fine; we're passionate about the hobby anyway. But this one-sided love is a bit much isn't it? Everything works in their favor and we always get the short end of the stick. Kinda like being in an abusive relationship.
Is there any news / future plan that I don't know of that will address these things? Or do we just suck it up like a battered wife? Am I just so blinded with my annoyance of the situation that I fail to see that splitting my account is actually a bad idea?
Yeah, i'm really wondering why I bought all the stuff on the same account as my Rift. The only plus I found so far is when I use my Go I unlock item boxes for my Rift home.
