Palmer: "This is an old placeholder concept image that we accidentally leaked. Everything in it is ancient, certainly nowhere close to final (as evidenced by the GPU specs and the game named "war") Enjoy checking it out, at this point, but don't expect everything to carry through to the stream on the 11th."

Yes, he's quoted in my post.

Most interesting is probably the "SID" (Simple Input Device) that looks kind of like a Vive controller (more like a an Apple TV remote in shape and size).

EDIT: And the front facing cameras possibly for hand tracking...

What's with the sideways O on the home page and the controller mockup? New Oculus logo?

yes, they announced the new logo today:

Which controller mockup are you referring to? On the homepage it's just a closeup of the HMD.

The first link in your original post shows a mockup of what looks like a controller.

Ah, ok, thought you were talking about on the homepage for that too. That's what (according to the leaks) is called the SID (simple input device) and appears to do everything the controls on the side of the Gear VR do (back button, volume controls, track pad) plus a home button.

So why is a new logo on a old as dirt pic?

Because the logo was created to be unveiled with the launch of cv1.
