How Much Difference Is There Between a 970 and 1080?

OK so in the CV1 - will it make that much of a difference?  I've just read some posts by people about how disappointed they were with the image in games, most don't say the spec of their PC but let's say they were using a GTX970 - if they had a 1080 and all settings in "whatever" game were at ultra, would it make that much difference?

One poster has just said he sold his CV1 quickly and will buy one again once he has a 1080.  Has anybody upgraded from a 970 to 1080?
Big PC, all the headsets, now using Quest 3

More than 2x more powerful. It will let you not only use high settings, but often you would be able to use the debug tool too to supersample.

I have a 1080, had a 970 before it.

In all seriousness, the 1080 is much better. For example, it can max out Chronos, which is not possible with the 980 (let alone 970).

I have a 1080 overclocked with a i7 4gig cpu and 12 gigs of ram running on a ssd project cars and dirt rally will not run on ultra or high if your gunning for 90fps. even with a 1080 any true titles when I say true I'm talking aaa titles that are vr second because lets face it most vr games are just glorified demos to show off vr. so even a 1080 is not enough power to run vr the way people want it to be

I have not owned a 970 but from a 2d stand point the power difference between the 2 is huge and if your concidering the upgrade you should its worth it

really my 290x can do over 60 on ultra for project cars

i got a 6600k overclocked to 4.5 with 16 gigs of ddr 4 3200mhz
only reason i dont got a 1080 now is cuz i got sick of the backorder bs and i noticed preorders for the rift were dont so i optd for a rift instead

hell I can do 60 fps and over to with my 1080 but to stay at a full 90fps at all times even with a 1080 you have to drop it to low for most of it and I'm talking playing against ai full cars and I bet you that you don't get a constint 60 fps you would be lieing if you said you did being for one project cars isn't even optimized for amd shit your lucky to get 60fps with that card on ultra in a 2d 1080p setup lol
