Is it worth spending money on a CV1 for my Laptop with a Gtx 970m sli set up?

I really don't want to waste money !
The way I see it, then future models of the Rift will be too powerful for my laptop, unless the 970m sli can be utilized well.

I thought I might get away with current gen Rift.... but maybe I'm wrong.

Can anyone advise?
I can't afford to waste money if it fails to work on my system well.

Thanks

Officially yes, but I've read sme people have had pretty good results using Sli none the less.
I'd like to know HOW good though,.. or how bad !

And Laptop not supoorted?
How so ?!
I see no difference

Optimus what?
I have no idea what that is.

But I do know there are some VR ready Laptops around.

I just am unsure about my Sli issue

The only VR ready laptops right now are ones with desktop video cards. Basically if the video card doesn't have an 'm' in the name it'll work.

SLI depends on the game. Support for it needs to be added by the developers.

Oh

I thought the 'm' just meant it was a bout 25% less powerful, not that it has some kind of different mechanism also.

And I'm not sure why the devs can't add SLI support.

They are losing customers.

I hope there is a decent workaround for my set up - I can't afford to spend anymore money on a leptop or upgrades, but really want to try VR on games like Live for speed

The easiest thing for you to do is to run the "Oculus Setup" without the actual device. If the setup fails to complete except for the skipable sections where it waits for the hardware to be connected and it tests for USB ports, you may have a chance.

But I wouldn't take it, because the experience would be really bad if it even worked. You will want to get a powerful desktop in the end.

(Oculus CV1 works differently to DK1 and 2, so please don't expect it to work if you cannot install the Oculus runtime)
Hope this helps.
