Y'all sure are talking about non-VR shooters, a lot.

Can we all agree that VR (IE motion-control) shooters are a whole different story than your old-fashioned FPS games?   Completely different skill-set.  More based on universal hand-eye coordination and physical reactions. Often aiming a weapon that isn't lined up perfectly with your angle of view.  Have to actually duck and weave and side-step to be a hard target, instead of just abusing the wasd keys.  Also, way more fun on average, and good exercise.

If the average FPS-fanatic knew what they were missing out on, they'd all have VR headsets by now.  Then again, the ones who wasted so many years of their lives learning those useless twitch-FPS skills probably aren't in a hurry to give it all up and start over.

P.S.   Puzzle games are very good, too.  Especially in VR, when you have the satisfaction of getting really hands-on with the puzzles, and can explore the environments up-close and take in all the fine details.
It's hard being the voice of reason when you're surrounded by unreasonable people.

Yup, there isn't a game genre out there that HASN'T been vastly improved by VR. So much so that I and many other people don't bother playing flat games any more.

And the same can be said about VR Porn too. Apparently. So a friend tells me.

I reckon we're not too far away from films being made in VR too. I reckon 10 years away, maybe even sooner. This is where the likes of standalone headsets will come into play, because once standalone headsets are as common in households as DVD players and Blu-ray players are today we're bound to see the big film producers jumping in.

It's going to be completely different to 3D TV and 3D films because with 3D TV you need to spend a fortune on buying the equipment whereas you'll soon end up being able to buy a VR headset for under a hundred quid/dollars.

That's a rather ineffective way to mask what you're really saying. You prefer the monotonous task of shooters where there is no real skill or talent involved. Shooters are "twitch" based as the primary skillset. Shooters come a dime a dozen. Puzzle/Adventure games require actual thought. You may want your heart to race, but not from a challenge, but from the same old repetitious race to see who can line up the crosshairs quicker. Boring.

If you think shooters don't require any skills then maybe it's because you play on easy.

Puzzle games don't require much thought. The puzzles are not designed to frustrate players or require an IQ of 150. If you're smart they're not challenging. Maybe you find them challenging  >:)

But some puzzle games can be fun. But you can't deny that in terms of sales the puzzle game genre is at the bottom. When was the last blockbuster AAA puzzle game? And you can't deny that puzzle games are cheap to make. One developer can make a puzzle game all by himself. If VR wants to thrive, it can't just rely on cheaply made games like puzzle games, tower defense, and wave shooters. I think any rational person would agree with me.
