I have to agree that this is still a large sum for an investment in a Enterprise VR company.
I notice that many of the media spend time avoiding talking about the Enterprise investment Pico has made - especially the deal with family-friendly VR attraction like SPREE.
Its difficult for them to run the "Enterprise business that has proven of interest to owner of social media mega-corp".

Are there any examples of the investment in Enterprise Pico has made? Just because the Media hasn't talked about them doesn't mean that others can't.
From what I can tell, not a single Fortune 1000 Company is using Pico to transform their Enterprise. Happy to read any details that indicate otherwise though.

Isn't Pico basically a China/Asia knockoff brand that rose due to Facebook and Oculus being banned in China?

Thanks as always for the question.
There is a lot of miss information and ill informed commentary regarding what is and what is not Pico.
You are right that it is one of the Chinese companies that benefited from the first flush of VR, but more from the Samsung GearVR establishment at the same time as the Google Cardboard. Many make the mistake of thinking that Pico just copied the CV1 and Quest, but forget that in 2017 Pico had established a business first with the VR phone holsters and then with a series of hybrid VR systems - focusing on Enterprise internationally. Collecting a strong following.
There are eight key VR firms in China, not all hardware. As we saw with the failure of the Oculus sales partnership with Xiaomi in China, the market is much more sophisticated than some tried to assume. Though with this failure for Go, Quest and Quest2 penetration into China through Xiaomi has seen the replaced management start learning.
Pico is number two compared to 3Glasses, DPL, Immerse and Lenovo, etc., but there are many others to consider, but I am not hear to give free consultancy to others 🙂
Regarding the Enterprise aspect internationally - while DPL and Pico have successful consumer facing hardware in China, the policy of going Enterprise has proven very successful, I will not list the key projects but will point to the SPREE Interactive partnership, that has created a successful SPREE Arena system. Pico able to collect all the companies that have moved from the abandoned Oculus IVS plans, (such as with the discontinuance of the Go, and so picking up the Walmart VR training deal).
In conclusion, in sharing a number of fabrication plans with Lenova, they have been in proximity to the Q2 fabrication, though I would say they re able to plough their own path. Developers I know say the Guardian system on Pico Neo 3 is superior to Q2. But again I need to be clear this is purely a view of one working in the scene rather than armchairing from the forums.
Hope this helped @Pixie40

Just an example of the more obvious Q2 derivatives making light of the collapse of the Xiaomi plans:

The Wal-Mart deal is only 17,000 units though:
Facebook and Oculus are trying to hit sales in the "millions." It is great that smaller companies like Pico can get these lower-end deals for organizations that want 360 Media (GO and GearVR are only 3DOF), but considering the total units being sold here... it is a far cry from being "very successful" in the Enterprise Space.

It doesn't really matter to me, I don't need another Quest 2 even with a display port. I like having separate HMD's for PC and mobile use. They don't wear out so quickly if one isn't in constant use. I don't like the idea of being reliant on the lifespan of a battery and all the added nomenclature needed for mobile, for my permanent PC solution.
I do wish them well and hope they thrive in whatever market they choose. The more eyes in VR the better for all of us IMO.
The company I'm hoping to hear about for PCVR is DecaGear. They sure seem to have faith in PCVR and innovations and goals that may become a contender.

@ohgrant - I love that video about DecaGear! It does look like a highly promising VR HMD. Hopefully it doesn't go the way of Pimax (huge promises with no delivery). I will definitely keep my eye on it.
If for some reason it does become another Pimax, though, I feel like we had ample warning...

Yeah, the names are quite interesting lol. They are shipping the Decamove devices now. I'm not counting on a speedy delivery but looking forward to trying mine.
