It seems like we'll get:

The new Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3000 series cards will reportedly offer more VRAM on all cards, so we could see:

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 - 12GB
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 - 12GB
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti - 16GB.

Maybe reduced power consumption due to 7nm. And maybe the best - if it's true:

NVIDIA is reportedly set to offer its next-gen GeForce RTX 3000 serieds at cheaper prices than the current-gen GeForce RTX 2000 series, which would be interesting. NVIDIA faced considerable backlash with the pricing on its GeForce RTX 2000 series, even though they still sold like hotcakes a price reduction is always welcome.

I remember those issues with the 3090 were linked to that MMO game from Amazon but it was'nt just EVGA...it was a number of other companies also from what I remember. That was due to bad soldering...at least with the EVGA 3090

Yeah, I had an RMA with EVGA about 10 years ago, and I was so pleased with how they handled it that I’ve stuck with them ever since.

My RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 just arrived an hour ago, so I’m off to install it now.

Wow, I've been playing around with a few VR titles with Link resolution maxed out at 5408x2736, and between the high res and Link Sharpening, the clarity is just stunning. Fallout4VR looks amazing, Alyx is crisp and sharp, and No Man's Sky is still a bit of a mess, but at least it looks fantastic. I'm looking forward to playing Lone Echo 2 in a couple weeks with this level of clarity and detail.

I got a bit worried when I was testing non-VR games, because Fallout 4 kept crashing. Turns out that it uses an old version of NV Flex that isn't compatible with RTX cards, so I had to turn off Weapon Debris to get it back to stable. I tried RTX effects briefly in The Ascent--looks good and still performs fine, but not a huge difference. I've got a few more games with RTX support that I'll have to try out, but I'm getting a bit tired at the moment.

DK2, CV1, Go, Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3.

Congrats, if you want 2D games with RTX effects, maybe that Lego game, Builder's Journey I think it's called, isn't bad. But impressive RTX 2D games are few. Let me know if you find some 🙂

I've started testing many VR games by continuing to increase res until I no longer get 90 fps, sometimes you can go much higher than I ever would have believed. Especially in games with TAA, going really high res can make all the difference. And DLSS is nice, like DLSS Performance makes possible really high res with awesome performance in Myst. No Man's Sky is very blurry with lcd, but going to an extreme SteamVR res 400% made the game quite sharp, even if it's now 45 fps - but motion smoothing can be your friend:-)

I guess many of us are now ready for Lone Echo 2 🙂 Song in the Smoke could be a great positive surprise too.

Wow...sorry to hear about this. Glad to hear you're getting a replacement quickly. Mine is still fine...but I don't OC it either, I'm hoping mine will still be fine going forward. What happened? if you don't mind the question (in case I need to monitor mine). Cheers!!!

I was playing MechWarrior Mercenaries in VR and all of a sudden I got strange artifacts all over my screen and the game crashed shortly after. Then I found with any game I launched once it got to the game it would crash to desktop with fatal error. Does ok on desktop 2d, but any game it will not run at all.

Wow...I'd say some of the Vram or the memory controller on your card bit it. With all the strange problems happening with manufacturing, it's not to surprising. Thanks for the update.

Yeah seems a few of the EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra's purchased in Nov 2020 with serial number starting with 2 have had this issue. Only EVGA knows how many and how widespread it may or may not be, but they sure are awesome at taking care of it on their end.

I also bought mine in Nov 2020...and it has the serial# starting with 2. So far no issues up till now... Will see, I guess... Thanks for the info

Most welcome, hopefully yours will be just fine.

Edit: I will add I put a crap load of hours on my card, being retired and gaming almost daily for many hours a week.

Thanks, I'm hopeful...while confident it will continue to work fine. Cheers!!!
