Oculus TrayTool - SuperSampling profiles, HMD disconnect fixes (hopefully)

Level 8
Oculus Tray Tool
current version: 0.87.3

What is it?
In short; It’s a free application that helps you get the most out of your Rift. It is developed by me, ApollyonVR, with the support of the community for beta testing. Please note that this application is not an official piece software from Oculus, I am not affiliated with Oculus in any way. Any issues you
have with this application should be reported to me and not Oculus support. You can reach me here on the forums or by contacting me at

Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) has many features that will hopefully help you get the very best VR experience. It has options that help you automatically switch audio and microphone to the Rift and back, handle the Oculus runtime service, voice commands, batch import Steam games (added to OTT by the awesome @headkaze over at, replace icons for your games and more.

It’s primary feature however, is the ability to create “Profiles” for you VR Games and apps.
Within these Profiles, you set how Asyncronous SpaceWarp (ASW) should act, increase the perceived resolution by using Supersampling and increase the CPU Priority of a given app to get the most juice out of your system for that specific application.
Once a Profile has been created for a game or app, OTT will detect when it is started and apply the
profile for it, without the need for taking your headset of.

If you want to have a peek at all the things OTT can do for you before installing the application, check the User Guide pdf. The latest version of this application will always be right below this intro, but the app also checks for available updates on startup.

Enjoy, have fun and please report any issues, suggestion or feature requests to me using the above mentioned methods. Oh, and feel free to buy me a coffee by using the PayPal button in-app. 🙂
The very nice people over at have been kind enough to host some mirrors for the setups, so make sure to pay them a visit!
UPDATE 04/20
Thanks to my awesome girlfriend, OTT now has a new home! Check out the new website over at for current and future downloads. Feel free to continue
using this forum for discussions and bug reports.

There are a few issues with the new profiles view.

- "No current row" error on startup. A new build is out for testing the fix.
- "Object reference" error when saving /reading profiles. A new build is out for testing the fix.

On a side note i have also made a feature to view and edit the properties of third-party apps, so that
third-party games that do not work can be a bit more easily edited.

Sadly getting the same "No current row" error on startup. Also wont start with Windows 10 even though I`ve got the boxes checked. I`m sure you`ll get it sorted though. You are the GURU!!

how do you make profile settings stick/save? I changed 1, didn't stick, I then changed that one and 2 more, only that one stuck. is there a button I have to press after changing?

There's a save button isn't there.

Also make sure the checkbox on the left is ticked for the profile you want to alter / create

No save button, but checkbox with the "create/update" button worked. "save" would have made more sense.

Is it possible to have Super sampling set differently for Oculus Home and games? For example, I want Oculus Home at 1.5 and games different.

Level 8
That's what the profiles are for. Create a profile for your games with ASW, SS and CPU priority to have that applied when the game starts. When the game exits SS and ASW will return to whatever is set as the global value, e.i. on the Game Settings tab.

Thanks for the help. I did what you said. Working fine now. On an unrelated question, does anyone know how to display your actual GPU and CPU usage while inside the Rift?

Nice tool man. Really useful.

Wanted to add something, just a tiny bug, which is not at all important, but maybe you can find a workaround.

When using the third party adding feature, some icons, particularly "cover_square_image.jpg" (oculus sub menu) and
"logo_transparent_image.png" (oculus app launch) do not show up in VR.So, no logo when loading an app and an error image when opening the Oculus menu whilst in that app.

Like I said nothing major, but it's probably related to the Bat files not being the same file as the executable being loaded by it.

Hi so how do I uninstall .70.1 when I install .80.1 I end up with both versions on my PC. Ok nevermind I figured it out I just deleted folder

Level 8
0.70 doesn't have a installer/uninstaller. Make a copy of the config.xml file from the current location and copy it to the new installation directory. This is to keep your profiles and some of the settings. Then simply delete the old version. I you have "start with windows" checked in 0.70 you might want to start it up one time and remove that setting before deleting it.

Level 2
Could you please provide a release without an installer? I just want to unzip to my tools folder.
