Oculus TrayTool - SuperSampling profiles, HMD disconnect fixes (hopefully)

Oculus Tray Tool
current version: 0.87.2

What is it?
In short; It’s a free application that helps you get the most out of your Rift. It is developed by me, ApollyonVR, with the support of the community for beta testing. Please note that this application is not an official piece software from Oculus, I am not affiliated with Oculus in any way. Any issues you
have with this application should be reported to me and not Oculus support. You can reach me here on the forums or by contacting me at ApollyonVR@gmail.com

Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) has many features that will hopefully help you get the very best VR experience. It has options that help you automatically switch audio and microphone to the Rift and back, handle the Oculus runtime service, voice commands, batch import Steam games (added to OTT by the awesome @headkaze over at http://headsoft.com.au), replace icons for your games and more.

It’s primary feature however, is the ability to create “Profiles” for you VR Games and apps.
Within these Profiles, you set how Asyncronous SpaceWarp (ASW) should act, increase the perceived resolution by using Supersampling and increase the CPU Priority of a given app to get the most juice out of your system for that specific application.
Once a Profile has been created for a game or app, OTT will detect when it is started and apply the
profile for it, without the need for taking your headset of.

If you want to have a peek at all the things OTT can do for you before installing the application, check the User Guide pdf. The latest version of this application will always be right below this intro, but the app also checks for available updates on startup.

Enjoy, have fun and please report any issues, suggestion or feature requests to me using the above mentioned methods. Oh, and feel free to buy me a coffee by using the PayPal button in-app. 🙂

The very nice people over at Guru3d.com have been kind enough to host some mirrors for the setups, so make sure to pay them a visit!

Note that for Microsoft Store apps, like MSFS2020, you need to gain access to the Windows Apps folder. After this, you can add a profile
for MSFS2020 where you manually browse this folder to find the installaion directory for MSFS2020, and in there you will find "FlightSimulator.exe"
and can add that to the profile. The below guide will show you how to gain access to the Windows Apps folder.

@kaossino Well, i don't actually draw the overlays myself, it's the oculus debug tool that does that, and there is currently now way to move those panels. So for now, there is not much i can do about that. =/

@@ShocksVR I still have the CV1 in my drawer as backup but the Rift S is currently my daily driver. But i will be trying out something new soon and with that, hopefully bring some new stuff to OTT.

@ApollyonVR I've just started noticing that my OTT window does no longer return to where I placed it last.  It seems to always want to position it around my top left desktop.  Not a real big deal imho, just a bit annoying.

I wonder if your new headset is SteamVR.  Adding an OTT option with SteamVR would be a godsend!

@TomCgcmfc Any chance you have dual monitors? If you where to open/drag and close OTT on your secondary screen it will get a negative number reported for it's position. In those cases it will fall back to "10,10" which is top left corner of your primary screen. If this is the case, simply close it while it is on your primary monitor, and things should work fine next time. And also keep it on your primary monitor. Alternately, open the user.config (you find the path in the ott.log), with a text editor. Search for "WindowLocation" and you see the coordinates. Set this to 100,100 and then open OTT. Place it where you want (on the primary monitor) then close it and things should be as they should next time you open it. This might also happen on a single monitor setup, if part of the main window is outside the screen area when OTT is closed.

Cheers!

OK, I tried moving the OTT window over to the top right (which is where I want it) before closing it down and now it seems to re-appear there all the time.  Thanks.

Hi @ApollyonVR
When using Oculus Homeless feature, looks like it is not saved and each time i start Oculus runtime, connect with Link cable, the Home is still there. Then i click "edit", i change the BG color, and it works in the Quest.
But then, at every start, it forgot about Homeless.

No need to use this ott homeless option anymore imho.  Just disable the 'start in oculus home' slider on your Oculus desktop app setting/general tab (around the bottom).  This allows you to start in a nice resource-friendly void.

Pulling my hair out here. I cannot get OTT to accept my FLIGHTSIMULATOR.EXE file under CREATE A PROFILE. Where should I be aiming OTT to make a profile for this? I am using version 0.86.8.0. Is that the correct one?

You should be able to use the create profile browse icon and then navigate to where your exe file is located and select it.  Maybe re-read the OTT manual.  It's located in your programs OTT folder and/or you can download it (see pp1 of this thread.  Good luck mate.

Edit; apparently you cannot create an OTT profile if you have the Microsoft Store version of msfs2020.  Not sure why?  Sounds like you can use OTT global settings, just not using a game profile.

@TomCgcmfc Yea, those messages are from my testing with pure steamvr installations. Will remove those parts in the next release as the code is not finished, so no need to have it in there. Yet. 😃

Cheers!

Mate, could you please remove those steamvr start/stop messages as soon as possible.  They seem to be interfering with my Oculus app startup.  Unless I startup OTT, go to the log tab, and wait for it to finish repeating this (usually 3x) then my Oculus app takes a very long time to startup with my Rift cv1.  Thanks mate and cheers.

@TomCgcmfc Ok, try this build. Relase candidate with some minor fixes including this, so let me know how it runs and if all looks good i'll put it out for all. Ofcourse, anyone reading this post is welcome to try it out 😃

Cheers!
