Playing normal games in theater mode? SteamVR?

Got the CV1, it rocks. Oculus home is really neat. However, I'm missing how to do something.

I thought Oculus had a way for us to play normal games like they were on a large screen. I know steamVR does, but I thought oculus did as well. Am I just being dumb and not seeing it?

I also tried loading steamVR and it is not detecting the rift. I haven't done any research there though, so it might be user error.

You will need the VR Desktop app for that, and Steam has its own VR theatre that can do it as well:

SteamVR hasn't been updated to the latest SDK I believe...
