This is quite sad information, but the gpu shortage is severe and may last for at least 1 year - more info here:
" [...] AIBs like Gigabyte, Asus, MSI, and others are currently receiving fewer than 20 units of Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics cards per country in the South Asian region, with China being the only exception with around 100 units this month."
More info; https://www.pcgamesn.com/nvidia/gpu-stock-shortage-to-continue
The take-home-message seems to be: do not sell your current gpu before the new one is in your hands 😉

That didn't take long. I think there needs to be some other mechanism to control mining, it just doesn't contribute anything on any level.
Maybe the recent record bitcoin price is a sign the bubble is going to finally burst. Maybe that's the only way it's going to be brought to an end.

Personally I could care less about miners unless they hack into my PC and use it to mine, lol!
I think that the main issue is Nvidia not ramping up enough supply in the first place. If Oculus managed to ramp up a decent supply of Quest 2's I don't understand why Nvidia could not do the same.
In Australia the supply is woeful, even rtx3090's, and prices from authorised Nvidia dealers seem to be rising quite a bit lately. Since I bought my 3090 two months ago, the same model has gone up 20% (others up 10-15%).
While I'm glad I got my 3090 when I did, I feel very sad for those who decided to hold out for the dust to settle. Hopefully things will improve soon because I believe that this is having a negative effect on PCVR developments.

Interesting - but a few days ago one dude from the shop where I got the Asus ROC Strix 3090 said they've got many new such cards arriving next week (then again, many = more than 10? 🤔 ). Could just be a coincidence of course - but within the last few weeks I did get the feeling of more such cards arriving in the EU. That's only for the 3090, which no-one seems able to afford anyway and which may be a great waste of money. Not sure about 3060 - 3080 cards, these could be harder to get.
Intel cpus seem in stock many places, at least my local shop states they have 500+ 11900Ks in stock.
