Testing with Oculus support confirms 2x faulty HMD's in a row - manufacturing issue?

After experiencing constant HMD disconnects with my replacement CV1, I've confirmed that disconnects are related to the HMD and not my particular hardware by hooking it up to a few other machines and seeing the same behavior.

This is 2 defective units in a row now (my original and my first replacement) - Support is asking me to send this unit back in now. Are there any discussions on widespread manufacturing defects beyond the few support threads on these forums? I'm starting to think maybe there is a bigger issue.
